playing this game
Hey, I have actually never played this game before which brings me to a question. Is this game worth buying? What kind of game is this? Comments would be awesome
game worth playing
well yes - I love it. Completely hooked on it. My two sons love it too - one in his 30's and one in his 20's and everyone I know who has played it think its great. My sons have played loads more games then me but there only arguement is whether this is the very best game they have ever played on the second best (one of them slightly favours Morrowind )

yes i enjoy ice wind dale 2 very much
the graphics are not very good (but that really does not matter)
the game play is very easy like kmonster said no fast clicking skills are needed
probably the hardest thing is creating your characters before you do you should read about how to do it or just play as a pre made party
Reviews: Game Informer hailed it as, "one of the best RPGs ever released for the PC
and Gamespot called it, "simply a great role-playing game
However, PC Format said, "it’s uninspired and uninspiring, giving itself a narrow remit and fulfilling that unspectacularly."
IGN said, "[Compared to Neverwinter Nights,] the pace of IWD2 is more varied, its balance better, the gameplay more interesting,"
Computer Games Magazine said, "it may not look like much, but it's got it where it counts."
PC Zone complained that certain gameplay mechanics had become outdated..."
so many mixed reviews but all in all it is a great game
also i think the story is very very boring and simple but the action is great!

My gripe with the game is that it's essentially a very linear strategy title using fantasy and some RPG trappings. Nothing wrong with this, but if you're looking for an RPG, you'd do well to consider the BG series and Planescape: Torment.
I would suggest that the graphics are quite good for a 2D isometric game--and there's nothing wrong with that, either. IWD2 runs with very little memory, by modern standards.nanyt wrote:yes i enjoy ice wind dale 2 very much

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

wow thanks for the feedback everyone. I actually did buy the game sometime in the past week and I must say it is very fun. You guys definitely helped with my decision.
And fable I compelety agree with you, it is a fun game and I actually own planescapes torment and that to is a great game.
And I also agree with the couple of you that commented on the graphics, not the best graphics but hey, I dont think its the graphics that make a game a good game.
So once again thank you to everyone who commented. I appreciate it.

Glad you bought the game mate, hope you have fun, but did you also get IWD1? if not I strongly recommend it, in some respects it is better than the second game, I find the levels and story of the first game are well designed, including a few superb levels. It also has a deliberatly gentle learnign curve which eases you in to the game very nicely.
The second game has good tweaks to the level up system / character choices, and a slightly harder difficulty. In other respects like graphics // sounds the games are equal, so overlall Id recommend buying both games!!
The graphics for IWD and black isle games are often dismissed as 'not very good' or 'dated'. Okay they lack luxuries like zooming in/out or immersing in coloured smoke or such special effects, but all that glitter aside, I very much like their style and colour of graphics, they use a more realistic style, rather than the more cartoony style of some games like WoW,
and IWD also uses the third person viewpoint, I prefer this to the more 'modern' 1st person perspective which is sorta dizzying and annoying cause youre down on the ground and cant see everythign properly, even whats to your side, and its not good for multi character control, so I prefer the 'old fashioned' 3rd person viewpoint of IWD.
