Encounters: whose stats?
I'm curious, because I've been running a mage, so persuasion and intimidation have usually failed. But if you have someone else as the current lead of a party when an interaction occurs, will their attributes instead of your PC's be factored into the success/failure rate?

I would suppose not... At least on the 360 version the player is always the "lead" even if a party member is currently selected. When you enter dialogs on the console the game switches to the player character. I accidentally used Morrigan to talk to Sten earlier today; in the end my character replaced Morrigan in the dialog.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Coercion skill for conversations is only open to the main character; NPCs can't get it. Likewise, for some of the "(Cunning)" or "(Dexterity)" dialogue options, I'm guessing its only your main character.
If you speak to shopkeepers as an NPC, your main character has the dialogue but the windows that compare equipment will be from the NPC you selected, making it handy to not have to memorize the stats of weapons or armour when buying in stores.

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
Your main character's stats get used, sadly. A bit stupid sometimes, like when you have to lockpick a door, and master lockpicker Leliana is standing three feet behind you, while you're fumbling around. (Probably drooling at my granite-like but... Since I'm so sweet and attentive.
)
BTW, you can also switch the characters to compare equipment once you're buying: just select a different name below the merchant's list of offered goods.

That's sad. Especially since it was gotten right over a decade ago.GawainBS wrote:Your main character's stats get used, sadly.
