Quests in Redcliffe after the attack (SPOILERS)
Quests in Redcliffe after the attack (SPOILERS)
Suppose your character is not a very good guy and leaves the poor people of Redcliffe to their fates during the undead attack. Town turns into ghost-town. When you come back, only survivor is ol'Bann Teagan.
Thing is, there are people in Redcliffe that you need for quests.
For example, Dwyn has Sten's sword (according to Sten's page in GameBanshee). There is a woman that you need to inform about her husband's death (Irregulars quest). These are quests unlikely to obtain before you leave Redcliffe. Can they be completed after the attack?

I may be drunk, krogan, but you're ugly. And tomorrow I'll be sober.
This is quite stupid.
I'm saying this because Redcliffe is the place most likely to visit after Ostagar (being first in the Blight set of quests and all). And you are usually to take a decision about the fate of Redcliffe right away. How the hell can you get enough influence with Sten before leaving, so that you get his sword quest? And how probable is for you to go to Denerim before Redcliffe in order to get the other quests? Not very.
Sorry about the whining, but this is stupid.

Well from one point of view it may seem that way...
I mean you can't find Sten's sword since the guy who has it is dead, sure. But other "talk-to-that-guy" quests should have a way to be resolved even if "that-guy" is dead. The journal could for example say "that guy is dead so you couldn't talk to him".
To sum up, my problem is that you may have quite a few dead-end quests piled up in your journal. And find this rather annoying (more so than the experience loss or the fact that you can't view every aspect of the game).

Wait...what if you stay to defend the town and those quest-relevant NPC's survive? Can you complete their quests afterwards? Because I cannot find Dwynn anywere after the night of the attack! (I'm sure that he survived the zombiefest)

Did you check his house? That's where he went in my game.Elevoros wrote:Wait...what if you stay to defend the town and those quest-relevant NPC's survive? Can you complete their quests afterwards? No wonder I've been enjoying this game so much. Like the Witcher, your decisions avtually affect how the game plays out.Aqua-chan wrote:Well, what can be said other than the fact that it's a consequence of your choice? This game played that "your decisions will affect your game experience" card up until the very end, right?

in my game, i recruited dwyn to fight and he died. much later i get the quest for sten's sword. well, you people are in luck. the sword is still located in dwyn house, in a chest. haha! you may need to follow the whole quest for it to appear though.
i, however, do not know about the irregular's lady.

I checked his house and he wasn't there despite the fact that he lived...BUT a chest in one of the rooms was now lootable while previously it wasn't, and the sword was in there anyway! :speech:Aqua-chan wrote:Did you check his house? That's where he went in my game.

WOW!! Great news indeed. I'll check it out as soon as I leave Denerim and report on the results.Elevoros wrote:I checked his house and he wasn't there despite the fact that he lived...BUT a chest in one of the rooms was now lootable while previously it wasn't, and the sword was in there anyway! :speech:
If you have to follow the whole quest path though, it'll take some time, since I've only met the Calenhad guy yet.

Nope! it's a pretty short quest...meet two guys, one in the lake and one outside of orzammar and then just go and loot the chest!nocturn wrote: If you have to follow the whole quest path though, it'll take some time, since I've only met the Calenhad guy yet.
