Antivan Leather Boots (Possible Spoilers)

Post by Aqua-chan »

Does anyone know where specifically a pair of the Antivan boots can be found? I've already gotten a significant chunk of the main quests done and still haven't come across them. I'm trying to lay down the charms on Zevran, but since he comes originally with no lockpicking ability whatsoever I'm afraid I might have missed this gift in one of the many chests he hasn't been able to open.

are you sure you need boots?

i found some very stylish gift leather gloves in a chest in the brenecian forest by the sloth demon camp trap. no one in my camp would accept them as a gift and i had already lost zevran. i vaguely remebering he mentioned that he hid his mother's gloves under his pillow, right?

Yes, the boots are another thing Zevran mentions in his dialogs. I believe you have to ask him about Antiva specifically, then he tells you about how he grew up in the leather working district and considered buying some boots before he left. I already recovered the Dalish Gloves and most of the precious metal bars, so I think that the boots are the only remaining gift that would have a significant impact on his approval.

i will look out for these boots on my second run.

i will admit that i royally $#@!ed up the gift system and sold half my gifts before i realised the purpose of all that junk. special items cannot be given to other characters, but they can be sold to stores. see my mistake!

I think that they are in a locked chest in the backroom of the Village of Haven shop . (where the merchant won't let you go ;) )

You can get there when you proceed with the quest for the Urn of Andraste.

EDIT:A small correction,I checked it out and the the boots are in the locked chest in the main room of the shop.

Yeap, chest in main room of the shop in Haven indeed. It is locked, so unless you're playing a rogue, bring Leliana.

Once you offer them to Zevran he'll equip them.

Off-Topic thought on Zevran: If lockpicking is a rogue talent, and Zevran does not have it, what's his role in a party? Unless you enjoy re-positioning all the time to make melee sn.. *ahem* back-stabs, why not replace him with an extra mage or heavy-hitter?

I use him as my scrapper. I tend to have him stealth his way past heavy defensive areas to backstab the squishy troublesome mages in the corner, then run the rest of my team in for the charge. He is surprisingly durable, but is definitely not built for thievery.

The problem with Zevran is he starts out around level 13 (that's where he was when I got to him at least), but at that time your team probably is straggling somewhere around 10-11 unless you did a heck of a lock of Chanters Board and Irregulars quests before going on your first mission. So it takes him a while to the point where he can level up and you can start giving him lockpicking skills. I currently have him at rank 1, and typically what I do is run through a dungeon or whatever with him in the party, and whatever chests he misses I will bring Leliana in for later. I can never seem to get all my loot out in one trip anyway, so I'm not too hindered by it.

What's more, I actually like him better than Leliana character-wise, so that's why I keep him around.
