BG2 classes in BG1

Post by warren »

Just wondering if there is a way to patch BG2 classes into BG1, if not is there a reason why. I am extremely computer illiterate, but if I had a choice on what to right this would be #1 choice as I really would love to use a monk from start to finish in the series.

I really do not think that is possible. It would involve alot of files to be changed. And the balance of the game could be throwen off. Maybe some one will have more insite into this but do not get your hopes up. ;)

There's been another (short) thread about this. It's not possible and if it would be possible it would be extremely hard.
Besides, I'm pretty sure playing a lvl 1 monk is extremely hard as well ;)

I'm not sure it'd be that hard. At the very least you could hack a Cleric into a Monk. Same HP, THAC0 and saves. You restrict yourself from wearing armor, you'll have to give yourself an undroppable item that gives the combat damage boosts (I wonder if you can't simply import the MFISTx items from BG2), and you'll have to give yourself a few undroppable items that provide various immunities.

However, would you really want this? Monks are pretty weak even at BG2 starting levels. Imagine what life would be like at level 1! All you can do is fight, but you'll have AC, THAC0, weapon selection and HP barely better than those of a mage.
