Is game stable, buggy or what?

Post by sonny »

Just brought the Game (Collectors Edition for PC) and plan on playing it as soon as I finish Fallout 2.
How does it play?
Is it stable or buggy.
Have any patches been released or are any needed?

Thanks
Sonny :) :)

The only bug I've encountered involes Shale (from the Stone Keeper DLC). It's pretty major as it means you can't speak to him. But if you don't plan on using him or downloading the DLC I wouldn't worry about it for the moment. It doesn't effect the game in any other ways.

The newest patch is 1.01b, which you can find here:

If you're playing the PC version you'll also want to install the party chest patch. You'll be glad you did!

Don't think you know all the answers.

I currently have no patches installed and had no bugs with anything, with the exception of scripts and AI in certain cases.

There are a few instabilities where the game crashes with a "pure virtual call" for me (two different computers, same locations), and I've had some problems with shifting weapons via the hot-key where the previous weapons are still shown graphic wise.

But outside this - there does not seem to be many major problems. Mostly "conversational/script" errors and similar.

If you managed to go through FO2, then you'll manage Dragon Age too. ;)
It has some bugs, but none game breaking in my experience. (For example, I didn't experience the Shale bug.)

My game crashed a few times, and I sometimes tend to experience a memory leak (which Bioware is fixing right now), but otherwise, the game is pretty stable and I haven't encountered many bugs.

As for patches, I'm currently running whatever Steam updated the game to...
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

Yeah - I've noticed a leak in the game as well, as the game suddenly starts to run much slower after a longer gaming session.

I've got the game patched to 1.01 plus all DLCs now and I've not noticed any bugs, except the game crashes if I go back to my desktop while it is still running. Its the most stable "off the shelf" game that I've played in a long time :)

I get video artifacts.. :(

..and SLI seems to be *worse* than not, even with the Nvidia "improvement" patch.

The system also slows down tremendously in certain areas, like right near the vendor stalls in the merchant area of Denmir.

For the most part the game has been pretty stable for me. Alt-Tabbing out of the game sometimes crashes the game (especially during conversations), but other than that I had little trouble.

I also experience the memory leak that others have reported from time to time, but shutting down and restarting the game (obviously) fixes that.
