Romance with Morrigan after completing her quest (SPOILERS)

Post by nocturn »

I've just finished Morrigan's quest. When I gave her the real grimoire she was happy about it and said she would study it. When I talked to her again, she had begun to have feeling towards me and second thougts about our relationship.
Using save games I tried all possible dialogue options and found that you can proceed in three ways:
- tell her that you love her back. This will keep her in the relationship reluctantly. When you try to bed her again she will refuse. When you talk to her about it she will express her concerns about love again.
- tell her that you are interested in a casual relationship. This keeps things as they were. (I also had influence loss following this path)
- agree with her. This will either end your romance completely, or turn it into friendship.

Is there a way to progress your romance with her (futrther on maybe?), without turning her all hysterical?
I may be drunk, krogan, but you're ugly. And tomorrow I'll be sober.

I think that's all you can do, really. You've essentially completed the romance; at least, that's as far as I got with it.

One thing that surprised me was that when I gave her Flemeth's Grimoire, I was already pretty far in the Leliana romance (without having made a "choice" like in BG2), so Morrigan said that she was sorry I was already with another, and we just become friends. THEN, after giving her the Golden Mirror or whatnot, it sparked the romance again, and I was able to fully romance Morrigan despite having already finished the Leliana romance.

I'm not sure if that's how it was designed, of if it was a bug. My game was pretty buggy, especially near the end.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

There really isn't much you can do to keep Morrigan from acting the way you describe when you you opt to continue the romance. After a certain point you will be able to understand why that is. That's all I can really say without spoiling anything.
Lord of Lurkers

Guess what? I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!

Ok, I think I know what you're getting at. I came across another such implication somewhere on the net, but I wanted to be sure if that was the case.
If so, Morrigan's weird edgy behaviour is actually considered progress.

Quite the reverse (women-wise not progress-wise :) ) happened to me with Leliana. I reached the point of choice and chose Morrigan. Then I maxed Leliana's influence and we became romantically involved again. But I think that Morrigan is still considered my main romance. First because her influence description is "Love" while Leliana's isn't. Also because
Spoiler
when they talked about getting me out Fort Drakon
Morrigan was the one that spoke up.
