Planescape Dialogue Issues

Post by A Needy Peasent »

When trying to speak with a zombie worker at the very beginning of the game, I receive a game crashing error when choosing the first dialogue option. Sometimes it just cancels the dialogue altogether, and it even used another characters dialogue option for Mort who should never have known it (imagine a flying skull with your dead lovers voice coming out of it).

This is the known error I encountered when it crashed "a assertion failed in D:\Torment\Source\chitin\ChTlkTbl.cpp at line number 371".

So I'm wondering whether anyone else has had this occur to them, or otherwise?

I'd say reinstall the game, delete all the files, and start again. Be sure to apply the patch (if using 4 disc edition) and Qwinn's patch.

I've tried your suggestion and the errors still occur. However, I tried starting a new game and avoiding the 1st dialogue option, and was able to get past the zombies without a game crash.

After I passed the first room zombies seem safe to talk to, I'm safe for now I guess. I really don't know just what the hell happened though, some weird error of code?

I'll post any news that happens if it happens, thanks for your suggestion. Though if any more Mort/ghost lover crossovers happen again I'll probably actually buy the game.

Well, if you got it illegally, I sincerely hope it crashes every 5 seconds.

Yeah, you just can't expect warez to run perfectly. Some file or other is probably corrupt.

Though, it's not like you can buy the game from merchants nowadays even if you wanted to.
