I don't mean to interrupt, but these Revenants... is this a specific quest? I only met one so far, the one in the Circle Tower, but I had to leave it alone because I couldn't defeat him even though I tried three times. Do these Revenants have any weaknesses at all? Or do I have to stack up on health poultices and sit down for an hour of bashing before the Revenant finally falls?nocturn wrote:Did he come from a vial? Also, did you get a note when you killed him that concluded with six fingertips?

I have done a lot of street-travelling in Denerim, but I never got the Revenant encounter. Maybe it's random, but are you sure you weren't talking about ?
About the Reventants, they are not part of a quest as far as I know, but I guess if you find and slay all of them (the ones that come from the black vials) maybe you get a completed quest journal entry (this occurs often in DA:O).
I don't know any particular strategy to defeat them. Try freezing them and using DPS spells. An archer could be useful to minimize damage taken, since they sweep their swords, hittng nearby party members. Another trick I used at some point was to move the mage behind an obstacle (like a table). That way, when the Revenant tries to telekinetically pull her towards him, she will get stuck on the obstacle and avoid the following attack.

I may be drunk, krogan, but you're ugly. And tomorrow I'll be sober.
No, that is a different encounter - in one of the Denerim places, there is a vial containing a revenant. I can't remember if it is a random encounter or an area triggered by a side quest.nocturn wrote:I have done a lot of street-travelling in Denerim, but I never got the Revenant encounter. I found all six revenants from the codex but you do not receive anything or get a completed quest for doing so. The only revenants I found that have a reward as a result are the ones that drop the various pieces of the Juggernaut armour. I've read somewhere that you can get a shield for this too but I've never found the revenant that drops it so maybe I missed one?
I don't think it's random either. It's has happened *exactly* the same for me (sequence-wise) on each occasion. Damned if I can remember the sequence however.GawainBS wrote:One of the six Revenants is definitly, positively in Denerim, a random encounter, and I'm not mixing anything up. It has the vial, the scrap of paper with fingerprints, everything.
I will note that it occurred while "cleaning-out" the bandits for the Denerim (market) Captain quest. I *think* it was after returning from the 2nd bandit hold-out. Up near the door and barrels on the stair landing. You actually enter that "map" from the stair landing door and all *seems* peaceful. Of course not only do you have the Revenant as an option, but you must also get through bandits who drop a gate on you and "surprise" attack on the exit "door" (..that is traditionally the entrance door to these "maps"). IF the "surprise" bandit attack happens with the gate closing, then at least you'll know that you need to go back up to the landing to battle the Revenant (..if you want to complete this quest). I could be wrong, but I don't think you can get back to this map, it's either do or don't at the time you come across it.
It's a hell of a battle for a low-level party, though nothing like the optional Juggernaut armor BOOTS battle.
I remember the encounter you speak of but I guess I missed the Revenant... Weird that you can deal with him only once though, since random encounters will "stay on hold" until you play them through.Scottg wrote:I don't think it's random either. Unfortunately I had already finished the Lansmeet by that point, so the drop at Redcliffe was not possible. I went on to the subsequent quest though andScottg wrote:Speaking of, once you complete it - does it take-out any useful people, like merchants who might have goods you want? (I ask this because I haven't finished this quest yet on the count of paranoia.)

Not really seeing as its not a random encounter ... it is an encounter triggered as part of a side quest in Denerim. The actual encounter is part of that quest and there are many areas in the game that are no longer available once the quest relating to them has been completed.nocturn wrote:I remember the encounter you speak of but I guess I missed the Revenant... Have you seen my brain around here? No? well in case you see it its brainy and squishy looking. If you see it let me know
Topsiders Honor:
The three parts are "hidden" along the deep roads.
First is on a regular darkspawn in the southern parts of Caridins Cross.
Second is in Rucks Cave in Orthan Thaig.
Third is on a ancient darkspawn (Boss) in the dead trenches.
Once you collected all three parts you can reform the blade by visiting the topsiders grave which is in Orthan Thaig IIRC.
Elven ritual:
The door in the elven ruins is opened by performing a certain ritual. Can't remember it all on the top of my mind but you can find a tablet in room on the right side of that big chamber where you encountered the ghost boy and all those undead.
Inspect the tablet, check on the codex entry and you should be fine.

I can't remember if it's loot from an enemy or if it's in a container, but the third piece IS somewhere in the dead trenches.kozeph wrote:strange i encountered the ancient darkspawn and he drop several things but no part of the topsider D:
i guess i should retrace my steps and see i find it

No.Can you see your avatar making chemistry with his or her lover?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
