killing loghain (SPOILERS)
killing loghain (SPOILERS)
At the landsmeet where you have to do single battle with loghain I keep getting killed. I have tried several different characters including shale but to no avail. Any ideas?

Which difficulty are you on, and who are you fighting Loghain as?
Perhaps lower the difficulty if you are able to and use a more apt character to battle Loghain. Mess him up a bit with a rogue, or go Frank Rizzo on him with a warrior.
I triumphed with Alistair during the first go on normal difficulty.

With a DW rogue on Normal difficulty, he barely touched me before I killed him. As other have asked: what class are you playing as?
Spam health potions if you have to, use techniques like stunning, use poisons, turn down the difficulty...

If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.
My mage had serious trouble defeating Loghain, too, but Alistair and Oghren worked fine. (Did it several times while playing around with different dialog options at the landsmeet)
So my suggestion would be to use a fully equiped warrior character. Depending on whether you want to grant mercy to Loghain or not you can either use Alistair or Sten/Oghren for this. Just stock up on healing poultices before the fight and don't be afraid to use them.
Unless you are on a budget I would suggest to never let your health drop much past 50%. That way you should have some reserve for the moments when Loghain stuns or knocks you down.
Unless you are already playing on easy you could also reduce the difficulty setting for the fight, but as long as you are careful and have a decent stock of poultices this shouldn't be neccessary.
Also note that if you react fast enough you should be able to save just before the fight starts (if there is no auto save anyway). That way you at least won't have to redo landsmeet for each duel.

I used Morrigan. Namely, I used Cone of Cold to hold Loghain while she casted her Drain Health and other high-damage spells. When I tried pitting my warriors against him it rarely turned out well since he is immune to a lot of those low-tier talents.

I finally did it. But I took off a day. After spending 2 hours with my financial advisers telling things that went over my head I came back to the game. I gave Alistair a shield , before I had had him what I thought was a two handed sword.Realized it wasn't and then sent him in with 48 health potions. I had to run away a while to drink the potions. I never could hit save fast enough so I had to do the landsmeet over everytime. But then I somehow messed up and didn't get the dialogue to kill Loghain but I refused to go back and fight him again. Thanks everyone for all the help.

It might be because you dont have freeze spells and poison spells to beat Anoras papa. I took him down on the first try with my mage at level 15 or 16.Selina wrote:My mage had serious trouble defeating Loghain, too, but Alistair and Oghren worked fine. My trouble has been the Reverse. My mage (elementalist) took him down without even needing potions (Albeit she ALMOST didn't make it) Due to Petrify & Cone of Cold spells, along with Stonefist....
But whenever I have Alistair do it, I need to cheat/reload many times....
Simply because I kept forgetting to upgrade his equipment

I never upgraded my equipment but I do recall using alot to support items as I aproached the end of the game, like the archdemon battle. My weapons alone took like five minutes just to subtract the archdemon's health, so I used support tatics to win.GoldDragon wrote:My trouble has been the Reverse. i must say to you all, i had never had trouble beating loghain with any character and it was especialy easy with my main character a mage, i beaten him in one go first of all i put a force field on him to paralize then i curse him with afliction then put cloud of death wait for force field to go down and use death hex and he dies after taking about 600 or so dmg. did it on hard about 5-7 times when checking dialog options worked every time, also killed him with alister although had a bit harder time had to use 1 health potion.
