Best possible Fighter?
Best possible Fighter?
I am torn between playing as a Sorceror or a Super-Tank on my next game. Opposite playing styles, I know, but I'm an undecided person by nature.
Well, the power of the Sorcerer is basically self-evident, so I'm more curious how I can create the most powerful fighter possible: Is it a Barbarian? A Berserker? Maybe a Paladin or just a plain vanilla Fighter?
I'm really not interested in dual-classes or workarounds (like saying that the best fighter is a Blade with Tensor Transformation), I'm really looking at the almost stereotypical Fighter. I want a guy who makes Sarevok weak, by comparison, in pure brutal power.
Also, how would you build him? Would you have him dual-wield or carrying the biggest sword around? If you choose to dual-wield, what weapons?
Thanks!

Yes, Half-Orc bezerker as far as the sterotypical fighter is concerned. It could be argued that a Dwarf has better saves, or that a Paladin with Casomyr is the best fighter out there. No, I think that from what you've described, Half-Orc bezerker is the build that fits the bill.
As for weapons, well, it's easy really. Belm in the off hand, and depending on your fancy, Celestial Fury or Flail of Ages in the main. Two proficiency points in two weapon, then all remaining proficiency points into Katana or Flail, to the point of grand mastery.
Reload those level ups (depending on how you feel about it - personally if I'm a fighter with a decent constitution I reload if I get less that 4 hit points) to end up with about 140 hp. Oh, and when you create him, set the game to easy for the max hit points to level 7!
Ring of Gaxx, Red dragon scale, Ring of protection +2, Belt of inertial barrier, Boots of speed, and you'll end up with a MACHINE. A MACHINE...

I can't picture a half orc dancing around with 2 puny weapons.
If you are building 'b@dass', it MUST be a 2 handed sword or halberd. The halberd is way more 'slaughterous'....swords are too clean.
Too bad there isn't a 2-handed *crush* weapon. Smashy-smashy!

I'd take a barbarian over the berserker. Equipped with defender of easthaven offhand and flail of the ages, 1 hardiness and you are virtually unkillable. Barbarian rage also protects from many things (some of which arent listed). Idk I would also go for the dwarf since there are many str enhancers (including barbarian rage haha) and those saves are so nice I guess I am more defensive minded like a tank rather than a slaughter house.

I'd say that the best possible fighter, or melee combatant (depending on playstyle) would have to be either a Thief/Mage (possibly Illusionist) multiclass or a Kensai/Mage dual class (dualed late). Those two aside, I also have to suggest the Ranger/Cleric multiclass.

OP asked for a pure fighter. My own preference is a Kensai/Mage dualled to thief using SK.Crenshinibon wrote:I'd say that the best possible fighter, or melee combatant (depending on playstyle) would have to be either a Thief/Mage (possibly Illusionist) multiclass or a Kensai/Mage dual class (dualed late). The race of the best fighter is an easy answer. That should be a Half-Orc. That is because he can play with 19 strength, 18 dexterity and 19 constitution.
The class depends more on what you like most. I personally do not like the barbarian alot. I would play with the Berserker. That would mean you only can't use missile weapons. I fancy big armors and nice shields.
I believe you should choose for the next:
Half Orc
Sword and Shield style**
Flail**
Warhammer **
And that shoose between flail of the ages and Crom Faer
