As soon as you get acces to an altar of enchantment and scrolls from Oblivion gates, you get the chance to enhance the 9 peaces of equipment you wear:
helmet, cuirass, greaves, gloves, boots, shield, amulet, ring 1 and ring 2.
been debating with myself what to put on what. Use looted armor or enchant my own ?
Go for protections or go for skill/attribute bonuses?
Make an armor set specific for each situation or use an All round set ?
the Armor of the Crusader seams a bit poor to me. Besides every time im using it, it reminds me of this YouTube - Monty Python and the Holy Grail : 3 Questions
or even this YouTube - Monty Phyton - The Black Knight
More, i realized that enchanting elemental shield on normal clothes grants as good defence as regular amor. Is it as it seams ?

Clothes don't grant you basic protection. Armor does. So even at its worst, armor offers a bit more physical protection than clothes.
Looted or enchant your own: your call. As a rule, the enchants you'll find on armor you loot will be better than what you can enchant, until your skills improve dramatically. Sigils are actually the way to get the best enchantments, but those aren't easy to get at first.
Protections vs attribute/skill boosts: depends on what you need the stuff for. Going shopping? Some nice clothing with boosts to personality and mercantile can help a lot. Fighting magic users? Absorb, reflect, and resist magic/elements. Going up against bruisers? Resist elements, since each Resist X enchantment also counts as physical resistance when enchanted in armor, for some reason.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

When you can get sigil stones that offer 25 points of armour (NOT resistance) against an element, they are well worth waiting for.
Personally, I use enchanted clothing as soon as I can, enchanted with Fire Shield (shirt), Frost Shield (pants), and Shock Shield (boots), which gives 75 normal shielding in addition to the elemental shielding.
Since you can only have 85 normal shield, I might add a Shield enchanted with a normal Shield spell to bring it up to 85.
Hood or helmet, gauntlets and rings can then be enchanted with whatever you like and kept in inventory for use at need, since they are light items and can be carried around all the time. The main advantage of clothing is that it is much lighter than armour, so you can carry more loot.
At least, that's how I like to do it!

Enchant with what will actually help. For sneaks, I do not need any enhancements for sneak/sneak-based skills or attributes, as they are high already. It would be more profitable for me to have enchantments for armour rating, as that is low, with nothing but Light Armour.
Also, if you have a crossed magic character, enchanting for enhanced magicka is also wise, if raising you magicka up is not your top priority.
In other words, enchant for the worst possible scenario, for me, it is if I get attacked or spotted and THEN attacked, I need armour rating, and more magicka, so I enchant my armour with corresponding enchantments.
That help any?

A man has only one life, but history can remember him forever....
I have a question that parallels this one: my friend has the game for the 360 and he disconnects from Live every time he plays so he doesn't update, he has a full set of armor enchanted with chameleon so that he has 100% all the time, I have a decent chameleon spell on my character for the 360 but my game has most of the DLC and all the updates and I can't get the chameleon enchantment for my own stuff. Anyone know how I can get it?
Edit: I also have the game for PC with only the Fighter's Stronghold DLC and no updates although it is the M rated version.
