past level 50

I made it to level 50 in mass effect one but notice that it does not keep track of anymore of my experience so how to i make it pasted level 50

Levels 51-60 are unlocked when completing the game once, I believe.

Don't you also have to have one of the DLCs as well? I got them both around the same time I reached level 49 so I don't know which one it is.

Nah, DLC's aren't required to advance in level. Just have to complete the game once, as Xan said.
