Unseeing Eye Problem *SPOILER*

Post by MoreCoffee »

Hi there!

I've got a rather burning question about the Unseeing Eye. After I had assembled the full Rod, I was kind of suprised by the Unseeing Eye that was right around the corner. Lost half my party, so loaded my Quicksave to try again. This time however, the Eye didn't appear.

I've tried everything, but it seems to be completely gone. Resting, searching the entire Lower Reaches, exiting the game, reloading again, leaving the area, nothing works. I've talked to Sasser (?), but he says I still have to kill the Eye. Problem is that by leaving the area, I also wasted my Auto Save. I can't go back to a previous save without losing almost an entire day of playing.

Anyone with any ideas to help me out?

My sympathies. This has happened to me before, and to my knowledge, there are two things you can do:

1 Download the patch that fixes this bug (I didn't do this, but am fairly certain that it's easy)

2 Re-create the Unseeing Eye using the CLUA console cheats, then kill that mutha. This is what I did, because I'm more familiar with the console than I am with mods, and I don't trust mods particularly. I only say this because I like playing SoA in its most pure vanilla form, yes with all the original bugs.

However, after creating, and defeating, the unseeing eye, I did have problems. A couple of scripts were messed up slightly, and I ended up getting the XP twice (which I removed).

Like I said, my sympathies, this bug is a real problem, and there was actually an identical thread regarding this a couple of weeks ago - you might find more information there. Otherwise, good luck, the people on this forum will do their best to help.

Thanks for the fast reply! I tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything. I think I accidently mistyped the name

The game is getting more and more odd now. I thought I could try to visit the Temple again, to see if I could perhaps restart the quest or something. However, the Avatar acted like I killed the Eye, and gave me the Shield as a reward. I figured I could live with missing the reward from killing the Eye, so proceded to Gaal. Gaal acted like I didn't kill the Eye, however. I killed him to try to finish the quest from the Priest. When I walked from his room, guess who showed up? :speech:

I'll try to kill him now..

The Unseeing Eye should only appear at that location if you give your part of the Rift Device to Gaal.

Downloading the latest patch is a good idea.

If this happened to you and you still have the Rift Device, use it on the Beholder for an automatic win.

I had already given back the Rod at the Temple. When I talked to Gaal it also said I still had to find the Rod, or something. The latest patch was already installed.

Anyway, I finally managed to kill the beast. Sure wasn't easy without the Rod, but in the end I made it. I also got the reward from the Temple of Helm, so everything seems to be fine now :D

Thanks for helping me so fast, both of you!

Wow, he appeared back at the Cult? That IS weird. I had the same problems; Avatar gave me the spiel... "I have given you the sign, what will you do with it." and all that rubbish. Got back to the Cult, Gaal's like; "Alright?" I'm like "Yeah, erm, think I destroyed your cult or something." But obviously I hadn't.

Seems that the updated version you have recognised the unseeing eye bug and fixed it, well, sort of. Well done for killing him without the rod, I bet it was HARD.
