Hello,
I'm currently playing SoA after having completed BG1. Everything is going quite smoothly, except for some reason I can't seem to get the Jaheira romance started. The protagonist is human, so there should be no problems there. I completed the quest where Jaheira gets cursed and I have to get her cured, and I've also started the harper hold quest, and gotten to the point where Xzar gets killed. At this point I seem to remember that I should've been approached by another harper (after the one who killed Xzar leaves), but no one appeared. I completed both of these quests at the beginning of the game (during chapter 2 or 3). I'm now in chapter 6, yet it would appear that the romance script still hasn't started. I have dialogue with Jaheira every now and then, and I always choose the most supportive and friendly dialogue options, so this can't be the problem either. I'm using tactics mod, aswell as a fixpack of some sort (can't remember the name), but nothing that should effect the romance scripts. I'm just wondering whether the game is bugged, or if there's something I am yet to do to get the romance script started? Does it maybe take longer for the Jaheira romance to start than the other ones, because I've never romanced her before?
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. It would definitely make the rest of SoA more interesting if I had some more dialogue available, as atm I'm at a point where I just need to complete some of the more difficult quests, aswell as kill some of the more powerful mobs, which in return makes the game feel more like a random hack and slash, which I'd like to avoid.
Trouble starting the jaheira romance
Have you tried resting in the open? If I remember correctly, you should rest outside for the romance to continue. If that doesn't help, check the Romancing guide for more input. My experience shows that Jaheira's romance is quite glitchy, so your game might just be bugged.
That did the trick. Thank you.Majorman wrote:Have you tried resting in the open? If I remember correctly, you should rest outside for the romance to continue. Depends on how far into them you are. For Jaheira most of the way through should do it, for the others I think you have to finish them.
Or you could just get the G3 Tweakpack and install the romance tweak that starts romances in ToB regardless.

But tweakpacks and other mods require me to start a new game to become active, isn't that right? That's not really an option for me.Ode to a Grasshopper wrote:Depends on how far into them you are. For Jaheira most of the way through should do it, for the others I think you have to finish them.

Most don't. The easy way to find out is to check the readme.Teaboar wrote:But tweakpacks and other mods require me to start a new game to become active, isn't that right? That's not really an option for me.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
