Opening chests

Post by zanthia »

I am currently in the fargrove catacombs. both here and in the sewers I came across many level 2-4 chests that I cannot open.

I have 3 points in inspect and I know have hit the icon correctly yet nothing happens.

also there seems to be no difference between the 3 choices of disarm, bash and inventory. no matter which I pick i have to do the minigame.

is there a way to bash a chest or to use the lockpicks( under inventory choice the lockpicks come up but nothing happens unless i select disarm which is the same as just selecting disarm. same thing with bash.

are opening chests only for those who play a thief character. if not what skills do I need and how much at this point in the game. my character is level 8 and as I said I have 3 points in inspect..

Any character should be able to open chests. You might want to read this thread.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

SWC

thanks for link. it helps a little bit still doesn't explain why bash and inventory ( lockpicks) still use the same minigame as disarm. I still don't understand the difference between the 3.

When you use bash, the symbols will be selected for you, and the trap will always spring. Using "inventory" allows you to use lockpicks, which increase your chance of opening the chest (the meter will run slower). The meter runs slowest at 99%.
