So I am a big fan of what I consider the greats of RPG's, Fallout 1 and 2. BG1, BG2. NWN, etc. I have never really played much of the IWD series. I have managed to get to chapter 2 in IWD 2 but I lost interest. I want to try something new, something that might be a bit of a challenge. I was thinking of having 4 characters. All magic types. Sorc. Wizard. Cleric. Possibly a druid.
-I was wondering can you rely on summons throughout the entire game.
-Which class is the best at summoning creatures. I heard Cleric of Selune was pretty good but then again so was Conjurer.
-Is a druid worth it in this party
-Any other class suggestions
-Any race suggestions for my current party
-What level of difficulty do you think it will be to play through in normal using the all magic party.
-And finally...in a perfectly square house has one window on each of the four walls. Each window faces south. A bear walks by, what color is the bear?
All Magic Party?

sounds fun. definitely use a cleric and a druid, youll get some extra options and both are good for summoning. how many characters will you use? youll get some great lightshows with all those spells going off.
i always wnted to do a party of evil mages with my multyplayer mates. they are too chicken to giv it a go.
the bear is white

All magic party is no additional challenge.
Playing with less than 6 characters increases the difficulty on the long run, less characters to do damage will slow down the game and you'll get 0 combat XP more often.
Instead of searching for challenges you might rather want to think about making a party which is powerful so you've to spend less time fighting standard battles (you can also turn down the difficulty if you aren't too proud) and can enjoy roleplaying through the story more.
For someone who couldn't bear spending more time for his run on chapter2, there's no need to slow down the game even more.
If you want a challenge try an unspoiled "no relad" run, it's more challenging than soloing HoF mode but it's possible, exciting and great fun.
Summons are useful until the end. They're great meatshields but they do less damage than additional party members with maxed out strength, especially versus enemies with damage reduction.
A druid is definitely worth it. I consider Selune the worst cleric deity (most useful for summoning is Tempus), but it doesn't matter much, deities don't make a big difference.
Party suggestion for all magic: add a bard and a second cleric as 5th and 6th character.
Race suggestion: shield dwarf for cleric, shield dwarf or tiefling for wizard, aasimar for bard, human for everyone else.

I was planning on using possibly 4 characters. Although I might add a 5th or a 6th later. I was curious if I had a bard would the song benefits help out the summons. Maybe make them strong enough to be more useful.
And as to the boredom thing. I had a mostly melee party. I did have a cleric and sorc and a rogue/wiz last time I tried playing through. I ended up using the sorc alot. I did use the other characters some, but mostly as backup. The Sorc was kick butt. I do like power gaming partys somewhat, I usually make a power gaming character over a role playing character.
