American irony
The Republicans are the defenders of the Constitution and freedom. They lambaste the Democrats for trying to silence their beautiful voice and rejecting the will of the people. If anything, they are an open and accepting party. They want clarity, and freedom, and fiscal responsibility, and fair elections.
They have recently kicked out David Frum:
(Frum Forced Out at Conservative Institute - The Caucus Blog - NYTimes.com) for providing some constructive criticism for the party
(http://www.frumforum.com/waterloo).
Purity tests, exiling dissenters, viscous propaganda linking citizens and representatives that have different opinions to the devil, calling for the violent overthrow of the government, attacking Democrats and independents with racial slurs and violence (the recent news items make America look like some Middle Eastern country)... the irony is too delicious.
Watch out, Canada! We'll have your heads after the 2012 Palin/Beck insurgency! Your vast untapped moose reserves will be no match for the NRA Coalition of Marines Without Liabilities sponsored by Citigroup, Inc. We'll shout Mission Accomplished as we build the Mexican border wall with the corpses of people who voted for Nancy Pelosi, illegal immigrants we sacrificed to Jesus Our Lord and Savior, and all the children who died from preventable diseases. Then we'll nuke Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan and annex Russia for Israel! Maybe we'll even make a cool eagle logo and stick it on red armbands that will become the very height of fashion! And then we can make those stupid democrats and liberal republicans and independents and non-Beck libertarians wear little lapels on their shirts of a donkey getting teabagged by an elephant. We'll also get some of those wonderful chaps from Uganda to head up the new Homosexual Relations Division of the government. I'm really excited to see what they come up with.
The future is BRIGHT.

Perhaps the Republican Party just needs an exorcism or two? +

This just in...
Cantor: "Democrats shouldn't be publicizing and politicizing the death threats, racial slurs, vandalism, and violent attacks on their offices that come from our constituents that we not-so-subtly support, because it's dishonest and exploitative. Anyways, I recently received some threatening emails and someone fired a bullet through my window. Natch."

Pretty much a lot of political parties worldwide need to be exorcised, aside from the Republicans. Just saying.Ode to a Grasshopper wrote:Perhaps the Republican Party just needs an exorcism or two? +=

bad analysis
The analysis in the OP and subsequent posts is flawed. Zero attempt is made at fairness.
If somebody condemns a serial rapist, it is bad analysis to point out that that somebody was mean in the 5th grade, lied recently to their wife, and fudged a bit on his taxes.
In other words, you need to have some sense of scale and balance to your bitterness and accusations. Sure, you can find imperfections and small hypocrisies in Republicans, and even a few large hypocrisies if you widen your search enough.
But to completely ignore the rhetoric and results of Democrats makes this thread highly flawed. John Conyers, a Democrat Congressman who has been in office for decades, recently defended the Health Care bill's constitutionality by citing "the good and welfare clause", and a "several other clauses" - his own words. That is extraordinary. If I have to explain why, that is even worse.
Democrat Dingell said, about the recent health care bill, "it takes a long time to do the necessary administrative steps that have to be taken to put the legislation together to control the people."
Obama said, at least twenty times during the campaign, captured on video, that he would work with our employers and that our heath insurance bill would be reduced by as much as $2500 (sometimes he just dropped the 'as much as') for a family. This hasn't happened.
Unemployment is at about 10% in the US under Obama, with no signs of going anywhere, even according to a recent report by Romer, Orzag, and Geithner which explains that the unemployment rate is expected to not change much for a year or more. Real unemployment is even higher, as people have a much harder time finding work than when the rate was around 5%.
Dems claim that the constitutional ability to regulate interstate commerce allows them to mandate that citizens purchase whatever the fed govt wants them to purchase, such as health insurance, but, logically, by definition, if you aren't buying something, you are NOT engaging in commerce, and thus can't be regulated by the fed govt under the Constitution.
I could go on for hundreds more examples.
Yet all you can say is that David Frum is asked to leave, and that Cantor mentioned that his office was shot at? My goodness. What motivates you people to have such distaste for Republicans? I'm a libertarian who is independent, myself, but it is dead obvious to me that the Republicans, under whom unemployment was 5% for years and years, are better and less hypocritical than their Dem counterparts.

You cite an example, then criticize me for citing an example. You use your example to explain why the Republicans are better, just after you criticize me for using my example to, apparently, explain why the Democrats are better.
You conjure the idea that I'm a Democrat sympathizer, then attack me on that premise.
You assume that if Obama doesn't right all the wrongs of the past 8 years in a single year then he's a failure.
You make up something about the Democrats and commerce for, I don't know, just to throw another spear as far as I can tell.
You fail to realize that the reason unemployment is so high right now is because the entire freaking economy collapsed at the tail end of 2008. This whole mess we've been through, yea, it's going to take a little while to overcome, even if we had a competent government.

From the New York times opinion page:
Op-Ed Columnist - The Rage Is Not About Health Care - NYTimes.com
Could this be a sign of... Civil War II?
I always thought that one needed a sequel. I've been waiting ever since they gave World War a sequel. WWI sucked and look how awesome they made WWII. The Civil War was already awesome so I cannot even begin to imagine how cool a second Civil War is going to be.
Anyways Republicans are awesome and I totally support a SYM Fairness Doctrine, an RPG Purity Test, and a Don't Ask Don't Tell law on whether or not you like the Fable games.

Reagan's trinkle-down economics put America down the path of unprecedented greed and corruption. It's crippled the middle class and hence, your ability to consume at historical levels. Domestic consumption is the engine of growth. And even though the Paris Hiltons and Britney Spears are trying their damnedest to compensate, they simply may not be buying enough ridiculous crap to right the ship.
Pissed off rich Republicans with their NRAs, 401Ks and SUVs can't halt the growing will of the poor masses. Soon, the Hispanics will outnumber you 8:1 and Rush Limbaugh will have long-since abandoned the country.
So fire your rifles into the air, piss and moan all you want but a heavy dose of red Stalinism is coming to a theater near you.
I have no idea about what I'm talking about but I figured if I type enough stuff, some of it will undoubtedly stick. Works for politicians and apparently, some of the others posting in this thread.![Big Grin :D](./images/smilies/)

I've heard of Nationstates before a long time ago. Didn't find it interesting, though. Could be because I've never been a fan of city/nation building games. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)

I played NS for about a month a few years ago and it was kind of fun but there wasn't really any diplomacy, wars, or anything besides a never ending series of same-y questions. I heard they came out with Nationstates 2 but the company it was outsourced to started scamming people and so the guy dropped it. Shame, really. The concept has potential.
