Mystery 'green spell' makes monster invincible?

Post by Nirvana24 »

This has happened a few times now, and I can't figure out what exactly is happening, so I always need to reload. But here is what I'm seeing...

I'll be in a battle, and Virgil will cast some spell either on himself or a monster we are fighting, I'm not sure. Right now, it is against some Lizard in the forest when looking for the son of the woman in Black Root. Other time was against a Clay Golem in the caves to the north. So it seems to be against 'tougher' foes.
I have no idea what this spell is, but it seems to make the monster untargetable by my character. My other party member, Magnus, can attack the monster. And the monster can certainly attack me... but I cannot attack him, so get killed or I can run around indefinitely. What in the heck is this? A bug? Virgil deliberately sabotaging me?

I've tried unequipping my weapon, changing weapons, reequipping, etc... but I still cannot target the monster. In the particular scenario vs the lizard, I decided to keep running around. Virgil started to then heal the lizard, and I eventually got killed. Virgil then collapsed from fatigue before the screen fades to black and says game over.

For those curious, I figured it out (I just forgot about this thread until now though).

Virgil was wearing a ring I stole from some dude that had the ability to charm others, or something to that effect. So in battle Virgil would cast that charm on the enemy, disallowing me to target the creature even though the creature could still attack the party.
