The whole clip is pretty funny, but 3.35 in is especially priceless...on a semi-related note, guess where I'm likely going in late July/early August?

Seriously though, would any of you women out there in SYMland choose to wear a bra if you didn't have to? I mean, those things are pretty hard to get off and from from all accounts I've heard they're pretty uncomfortable too, so WTF?

lol!
To be honest, I'm not really surprised... I spent almost a year in Japan during the early 1990s, and I saw quite a lot of evidence of this trend even back then.
Er... but the bra thing!?! That's a bit extreme...

As to your second point, I consider myself highly fortunate that I actually can choose whether to wear one of those devices, depending on the shirt I'm wearing. When I opt to wear a bra, I favour the extremely soft and comfortable sports varieties, which have the added bonus of being very simple to put on and off.
Personally, I've never understood the women who want to be built in such a way that they need a bra closely resembling a medieval torture device.
When you are more modestly proportioned: gravity is much less of an enemy, bras are often optional, men look at your face rather than your chest when talking to you, activities like working out or yoga are usually easier.... :D

Actually, in general western guys are a hot commodity amongst Japanese women.
They are perceived as far better house-trained (i.e they are more likely to cook and clean)... and er.... there are certain other stereotypes at work...
When I was over there teaching, my female students routinely asked me if said rumours were true.. :D

well I have a lot of plans and dreams (japanese girlfriend or living in japan for a few years of something) most are probably going to burn down and crash under the weight of reality but Ill try to make as many come true, before either I get crushed, fall in love or die haha :D

Yep, another fact confirming the negative influence of videogames on the young males, this time - in Japan. Males are highly impressionable and can be easily swayed. The poor dears always try to emulate videogame characters.

I blame effeminate characters in JRPG and anime for the metrosexualization of Japan and so should you.

The Japanese need Commander Shepard to man up a bit. Can you imagine Commander Shepard (when he is not she) wearing a lacy bra? Absolutely not.

oh dear im sounding like a pesudo grass hopper oh nooo save me  must kick puppies and drink beer and burp then do exercise in a manly way :D

lol at shepard wearing a bra thats something that would make my day

the thing is with japanese people I believe they are a very intese people very dedicated and often fall into obsession so yes feminine characters in media arent helping with that situation. since as you said we males are easily impress and take the "positive" characteristics of what we like, and well japanese people are obsesionists to a fault so im not really shocked that they would come up with manly bras. I imagine in the future the national museum of rarities of japan and in the exibition you see a man not wearing a bra haha:laugh:

oh btw just to make it clear if I sounded a little grasshoperish in my last post, im not against having a girlfriend on the contrary I would LOVE to have one and at some point in the future making little hugable things called babies but for now im happy with exploring the world and hopefully fufilling as many goals for myself before that time(if I dont meet an unfortunate event leading to my departure of this world :p )

What is with this world becoming so polarized? I do not agree that Japan needs a steroid infused jockstrap douchebag Shepard to counter the bra wearing effeminate JRPG cosplayers. We already have one nation that is being overrun with macho shooter buffs and we don't need another.

I regret to say I didn't actually watch the video in fear of losing my lunch, but I read the comments here and I am familiar with the material (girly Japanese guys, not bras on guys). Why would a man wear a bra anyways? What is there to support unless you're morbidly obese? Maybe this was covered in the video but, again, I'm too afraid to watch it. I can't even stand wearing undershirts. Bah, I'm probably a hypocrite in criticizing these people. I'm fine with a woman doing whatever she wants and acting however she wants but when it comes to guys I'm grossed out if they act all girly.

Grass-eaterish not grasshopperish, please...when half of your username is Grasshopper the distinction is an important one. ;)
Also, I never kick puppies or do exercise. :p

Hey! Some of my best-friends cosplay, and I've even considered it myself. But then again, one wants me to go gothic lolita, so maybe it's time to reevaluate.

oh sorry is mixed up the names :o
I never exercise and I would never kick a puppie, it was sarcasm  the only thing I would kick if it got in my way was a pigeon or a seagull hate those flying pests (they attacked me when I was little and stole my frenchfries)

"Grass-eaters" --- a whole new meaning to the word "Herbivores." Non-meat eaters will never be the same again.

If "Grasseaters" is a euphamism for girly metrosexual men... I wonder if it is derived as the opposite of "Meat Eaters". Which I would imagine are Butch horny Women! Perhaps a rise in "Meat Eaters" in Japan has caused a rise in the Herbivore population or vice versa... ah, nature is a wonderful thing.

Crap, I got knocked back for the JET Program. :( Looks like no man-bras for Odie this year.
Just wish I knew why, from what I've heard I should be pretty much their ideal candidate - I'm young, I'm adaptable, I'm well-travelled, I've got a heap of TESOL- and cultural studies qualifications and a bit of teaching experience, I didn't screw up in the interviews or anything, I have a keen interest in Japan...I can't figure out what went wrong here.
Odie is a very forlorn grasshopper atm...dammit.

Damn, really sorry to hear that Ode... :(
Who knows what happened... could even just be the case that with the economic situation they are swamped with qualified applicants. Really bites though..

Would it cheer you up to know you have less chance of acquiring a girlfriend with a Hello Kitty fetish.... ;)
