If a Red Wizard chooses to specialize in a school that allows him to summon certain creatures, how does this specialization benefit the summons themselves? Do they get better HD? What about a wizards' familiar (I am assuming that the act of summoning a familiar falls under a school)?
What about the summoning of magical armor or equipment?

I think red wizard levels only help with caster level on the specialized school, and improve overall spell DC. Check this:

So for summoning, it would probably only help with the duration of the summons, unless specified in the spell description otherwise.

Yeah, it seems like it only affects DCs. Too bad the Demonologist PrC wasn't made part of NWN2.

..and Spell Penetration + Saves. It also increases the effective caster level for the spell, BUT for a conjuration *summon* that will only increase it's DURATION (..not the strength of the summon).Tricky wrote:Thanks.![]()

Even the feat Augment Summoning (after selecting Spell Focus Conjuration), doesn't really do something that Bull's Strength and Bear's Endurance can't achieve. (..and note that they don't stack.) The one saving grace is that Augment Summoning can't be dispelled.
Also, you can select Augment Summoning for a Druid as well.
Speaking of Summoner's:
The best summoner in the game by far is a pure Druid with a Dyno pet. Both for the pet and the augmentation spells (..and also additional summons). Summons otherwise are pretty pathetic in both NWN2 and NWN1, at least at the highest levels. (..at more moderate levels they are quite good.)
True. That's way I added the Player Resource Consortium to NWN1. PrC's like the Alienist can strengthen your summons quite well. It also adds feats that actually improve your summons HD and such as well.
