Ruors going roundthat we may trade our first pick for Roethlisberger, I hope it turns out like most rumours that associate us with any scumbag who's available. He may bea definite upgrade playing wise, but not a move I'd like, especially as we almost certainly can't protect him. We need Linemen, O or D, follwed by linebacker/safety IMHO. I wouldn't mind Golden Tate if he's still available, or if he's still there Clausen; and I for some reason am a Trojan fan, can't stand the Farting Irish!

Oakland has long been a sanctuary for outcasts but I agree 100% with you galraen. As a matter of principle, I won't even keep morally bankrupt players on my fantasy team.galraen wrote:Ruors going roundthat we may trade our first pick for Roethlisberger, I hope it turns out like most rumours that associate us with any scumbag who's available. Agree with your assessment of need for Oakland except that QB is a very dire situation. That has to be the very top concern. Oakland has been gashed by the run for as long as I can remember so they definitely need D-lineman. Your o-line has been very effective in the rushing game...even with a garbage QB, you guys still rush very effectively. And Michael Bush is one of my favorite young RBs in the league. That guy is 100% monster!
I would rank Oakland's needs as follows:
QB!!!!!!!!
DT
OT
LB

If we can get Clausen then fine, but in my opinion there's not another QB worth taking in the first round, the others all have too many questions/too much downside; Tebow shouldn't be taken as a QB period in my book.

There's nothing there I disagree with.galraen wrote:If we can get Clausen then fine, but in my opinion there's not another QB worth taking in the first round, the others all have too many questions/too much downside; Tebow shouldn't be taken as a QB period in my book.
There are other ways for you to get a QB in this draft, beyond simply drafting one. With the salary cap dead and gone, there should be a LOT of trade activity in this draft. I'm expecting 200-400% more trades than normal.
Holy @#$%! CJ Spiller just showed up at the draft with Barry Sanders!!! My absolute favorite guy to ever wear the uniform!!!!! He doesn't make public appearances so this is pretty huge!!!!

Rams take Bradford with the first pick. A classic example of bad teams making bad picks and remaining bad teams as a result; and as a Raider fan I'm an expert on this!

That was one crazy first round. Raiders made a solid pick, not great but solid.
Buffalo is crazy for taking Spiller with all of their other needs. Jacksonville's pick was horrible as well. That franchise is in deep trouble.
But the face plant of the draft was Denver taking Tim Tebow. My god those poor fans. Trade away Jay Cutler, trade away Brandon Marshall, trade away Tony Scheffler and draft Tim Tebow when you already have Orton, Quinn and Brandstadter on the roster.
There are no words to describe that kind of meltdown in talent and wasted draft picks.

Being a Raider fan I'm delighted with the Donkey's assinine move, at least we can hope to have at least one team below us at the end of the year until Denver realise their foolish mistake!

It's been a great offseason for the Raiders. You finally get LT out of your division (symbolically important at least) and Denver commits roster suicide.galraen wrote:Being a Raider fan I'm delighted with the Donkey's assinine move, at least we can hope to have at least one team below us at the end of the year until Denver realise their foolish mistake!
You got the best LB in the draft. Let's see what Day 2 brings.

Clausen I hope, he's coming from ND, which ran the pro system so he shouldn't take long to adjust to the NFL, I still can't believe he wasn't taken first among QBs.RPGguy wrote:You got the best LB in the draft. Let's see what Day 2 brings.

Some interesting numbers. Out of the 32 picks yesterday...
6 offensive linemen
9 defensive linemen
That's almost half the draft on linemen. I think the days of them being the lowest paid aspect of the team are disappearing.
The next most populous position is CB (5) but cornerback has always been one of the top paying positions in the NFL.

galraen, your guys just took DT LaMarr Houston. Another solid pick and more importantly, a great guy to absorb blocks for the stud middle linebacker you just drafted yesterday.
Seems the Raiders have finally had enough of getting gashed by the run up the middle. Good for them. Nice 1-2 punch there. Props.
