My name is Vicsun :)
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Poor imagination on my part leads to plenty of recycling. The most prevalent theme for quite some time now have been naming myself after any of the curious creatures found in burgess shale.

Finding good character names is like a curiously interesting appetizer to the proper meal any good game should be. :)

I tend to put mythology and other literary history to proper use. You can always find a person that portrays a certain trait of a game character. I might call an item forging adventurer Völundr for instance, which is an old Norse name for Wayland the Smith. Similarly I would be tempted to name a trickster rogue Reinaert, an old Dutch name for Reynard the Fox. For nobility, I might be inclined to look up lists of ancient Frisian Kings.

As you can imagine, in dark places where my own knowledge of people and things historical fall short, Wikipedia tends to make for interesting browsing. All I have to do is follow the links. ;)
