J.D. Hayworth Doubles Down On Men-Marrying-Horses Claim

Former Congressman J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.) is not backing off his claim that a six-and-a-half-year-old same-sex marriage ruling in Massachusetts could conceivably pave the way for men marrying horses.

The Arizona Republican primary challenger to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) issued a statement on Monday afternoon defending the comments he had made the day before and pledging not to be intimidated by "the liberal media" attacking him for it.

"adly, the liberal media, intent on defending the ultra-leftist, progressive politicians in Massachusetts, are attacking me for standing up once again for family values and for rejecting this absurd court ruling," read Hayworth's statement. "But they don't intimidate me at all. I know right from wrong and as a staunch defender of the institution of marriage, I know I can count on millions of supporters across America to stand with me when our values are under attack -- and when I am under attack for standing up to defend those values."

Hayworth had come under some fire -- but more ridicule -- for telling a conservative Orlando radio station on Sunday that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court had defined marriage so loosely in its November 2003 decision legalizing same-sex unions that it opened the door to human-steed nuptials. The former congressman was basing his argument on a provision in the law that he said defined marriage as simply, "the establishment of intimacy."

The problem, however, was that no such provision seems to exist in the court's decision. In fact, the court defined marriage quite specifically as "the voluntary union of two persons as spouses, to the exclusion of all others."

Hayworth was asked about this discrepancy during an appearance on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show, and he had no honest rejoinder.

"You and I can have a disagreement about that," he proclaimed, when asked from where he drew the "establishment of intimacy line."

Er..... yeah...
No offence intended to the Americans on this board.. but honestly.. this kind of stuff might actually be funny.. if it were featured as part of a fictional comedy..

Hayworth may be on to something here...

According to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore is gay, and in his youth fell in love with a powerful Dark Wizard named Grindelwald, as a result of which he briefly flirts with the idea of wizard domination over muggles. He later dies, killed by Alan Rickman. From this we can draw a number of inferences.
1: Being gay is a leading cause of fraternising with dark wizards, if not a leading cause of dark wizards in and of itself. If Dumbledore had been straight and Grindelwald had been raised by devout Christians he probably would have become an accountant or something useful and exciting like that.
2. Being gay makes you want to take over the world with your gay dark wizard lover. If Hitler had been a wizard chances are he would have been gay.
3. Being gay makes you get killed by Alan Rickman. As killing people makes you go to jail this means being gay is a leading cause of Alan Rickman potentially going to jail.

And for those who claim there's no link between homosexuality and bestiality, may I remind you that Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter, also appeared in Equus where he is sexually attracted to horses? This is clearly all Dumbledore's fault, he even hires a centaur as a teacher for crying out loud!
Won't somebody think of the children!?

Personally I prefer the Texas solution, though this quite tickles my fancy as well.

Only in America and in the Middle East is the word "progressive" a bad thing.

Anyways, it's always nice to see human beings compared to animals. USA! USA!

"I always thought that humanity was animal-like. The Confucian theory was that Man can be improved. I’m not sure he can be, but he can be trained, he can be disciplined. I’m not sure you can actually change the character of a man. But you can discipline him. You can make a left-hander write with his right hand but you can’t really change his natural born instincts to use his left hand. The Confucianist belief that Man is perfectible is an optimistic belief." -Lee Kuan Yew.

I kind of agree with this assessment of humanity. ;)

The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

i am not offended by your comments or posting of that crap in the least. that congressman is cleary retarded and not in the special way.

with what little i am familiar of most european countries' governments, there are several parties and some are very extreme and some are more middle ground, correct? ---- well, in the US, there are only 2 parties, so you are either black or white, on or off, up or down, OR with us or against us. it doesn't matter because you are always wrong. it makes me sick. he and his kind are why i can no longer watch any tv or read newspapers. instead of doing anything to make it better, they just fight. ..... i had originally written much, much more, but it was pointless ranting and an overall lack of respect for my fellow countrymen. i apologize.

not to completely change the subject, this is why i think that videogames are so addicting. i believe that most people are decent and want to do good things, but there's no system in place to reward those individuals -- however, in the video game world, there is. they can see that they're actions are affecting the world/universe. i just shot every single cannabalistic alien in the face and saved humanity. <---see i did that. yeah, it's not reality, but it made me happy -- happier than recycling, happier than donating hundreds of dollars to my favorite charity (they give christmas presents to poor children) and much happier than watching the news. /end rant
Left-handers may be one of the last unorganized minorities in our society, with no collective power and no real sense of common identity.

Re: Lewis black

Gays are destroying the American Families. There's a group of gay banditos that sneak up to the american family sitting down for their evening meal, dressed all in black with matching pumps (very tasteful) and they break into that house and just start screwing each other right in front of them, thus destroying another American Family.

This seems to imply that Mr. Hayworth Poopypants to the max doesn't understand the basics of sentient life versus non sentient life.

@Ode to Grasshopper.

Frickin A man, I bursted out laughing at that. :D :D
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.

A month slow and a dollar short, but I literally came close to relieving myself when I read this, Odie - hilarious! Can't seem to stop giggling like a schoolgirl at the mental image of an "Alan Rickman Hates Gays!" t-shirt; feels like there's a horrible meme waiting to happen somewhere in there.
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.

Histrionic BS like this has two major possible origins that I can see. One he is nuts. So fanatical about stopping gay unions that he has crossed the line between insanity and sanity on this regard. Option two, and more likely IMHO is all he wants to do is pour a bit more gasoline on the fire. Keep the issue in the public light in an unfavorable way and get those church going voters mobilized.

that ruling was 7 years ago, I have not heard of any nuptials regarding horses so there is no imminent threat of that...unless our esteemed congressman in question is having a breakdown of will and getting ready to propose to his favorite mare:devil::laugh:  :p
