Hi
I haven't been on this site very much and recently got registred. However, I do have played the Baldurs Gate series alot. Since the late 1990's when the first game was released till now.
As you well understand I've played the game over, and over, and over again with almost every class, race etc. (except e.g. the Jester)
However, as it is today, I still enjoy the game as a break from work and the every day experiance but this time I'd like to dive even deeper into the game by reading alittle about every class, race etc. that I might understand the game itself better.
Also, a note of caution, I'm no fan of kensai/mage, berserker/cleric, sorcerers and whatelse you might come to think of (even though I've played'em all) because for me they're alittle too good. I like a great challange and therefore I always play very ethically (insane difficulty of course), e.g. if I play a necromancer I use necromantic spells etc. that might match his alignment and class.
The problem is though that I'm no expert at D&D lore but wish to know alittle more. Does anybody out there have a good site were one can read about every class, e.g. not only read about mages ingame and what it says about them - yes, it does say that necromancers, for example, specialize in the art of death, but nothing more - as to say, get a deeper understanding, someone would say I think, RPG.
Best regards,
Mathias

Good for you Mathias.
I've recently got to the end of BG2 with a Berserker/Cleric. I've also got right to the end with an Inquisitor, Ranger, Fighter, Ranger/Cleric, Mage/Thief....
And not once have I thought "now I want to face Irenicus" because I've been such a killing machine (yes, double damage, no, no Throne of Bhaal).
Now I'm making a bog standard Cleric, with basic and realistic stats which I don't want to enhance with items. I want the mace+1 and a normal large shield. Nothing more. Oh and some plate mail, no not full plate - imagine walking around in that all day.
And I have to say, I think that when one's done all the power stuff, one realises what it's all about - the 'RPG' elements.

Yes, I couldn't have said it better myself. Nice to hear that there are others that have faced the overwhelming powers equal of a God. It's "fun" the first runthrough, but as you said, one want the nature of the game to shine.
We have to understand that even though the game was a total sensation during it's time, it still has its weaknesses, such as technically innovative as today's games might be (why MoD's exist?) and therefore people like myself simply accept the misses made by the creator of the game, e.g. that one even has the opportunity to become extremely powerful soloing mode.

Yes, I've checked the Forgotten Realms wiki out. I've got answer to many questions. Though it wouldn't hurt if there was more sites
Thanks.

Try to search for "Faerun" or "Forgotten Realms", you will get loads of sites and likely be somewhat confused. If you like a good read, stay away from the various Forgotten realms novels, the best are Salvatore's and they are merely acceptable. If you do not mind reading not-very-high-quality fantasy, by all means try them. Bear in mind also that I am 39 and love Tolkien's work.
To each their own, I tend to like the RPG aspects as well, but people like Longshot (Sworca) prefer the tactical challenges...
