Combat Rules

Post by WhoCares357 »

I know the game's combat system is largely based on the D&D rules but there are (I am assuming) differences. Does anyone know of a tutorial specifically covering Baldur's Gate 2 combat system? If not, then a link to a good D&D (and maybe "changes in BG2") tutorial would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

I cannot really help you, except that the current AD & D Rules is version 4. I believe BGII is based on ver 2 (.5 I think).

You can search for the basics of most of the rules online. The rulebooks of course are not there except on various pirate sites, but the basics should be and you may be able to find them legally as E-Books with a few select bits edited out.

Thanks, I will try and find a tutorial on 2/2.5 D&D rules.

I think so, I also think that Wiki or Forgotten realms Wiki on Baldur's gate tells what rules they run on. That is probably a good place to start.

Dan Simpson's FAQ on Gamefaqs is quite good, otherwise the BG2 manual is about as good as it gets and explains the mechanics pretty well.

Haha the only place I would have never checked (the manual). Thanks, I'll check those out.
