I think that's how you spell it.

I heard something about proficiencies being "Nerfed"?

Someone explain please.

If you do not know, Google or Yahoo or whatever search engine you use is your friend...

Look here.

AFAIK it means chaning something from P and P version to be weaker, but Wiki gives a much longer explanation. Wiki can also be your friend, but beware that everyone can post articles there.

If you're referring to the "grandmastery" being nerfed, then yes, it is nerfed in BG 2. The way it worked for BG and IWD :

Thac0/dmg/attack per round/speed

* +0/+0/+0/-0
** +1/+2/+.5/-0
*** +3/+3/+.5/-0
**** +3/+4/+.5/-1
***** +3/+5/+1.5/-3

The way it works for BG 2 :

* +0/+0/+0/-0
** +1/+2/+.5/-0
*** +2/+2/+.5/-0
**** +2/+3/+.5/-1
***** +2/+4/+.5/-3

You can use the Tweak Pack to enable "True Grandmastery" if you want but know that it is really overpowered and the nerf was intentional. Also at 5* you get an extra 1 APR instead of .5.
