Attributes drained with no reason?

Post by Birdsfly »

During the last days, I have discovered an error. Instead of the 150 speed, and the 101 agility I have gotten trough picking them when leveling, have been degraded to 80 speed and 81 agility, with no cause that I can find. I'm not sick, have no effects on me, other than the Effects You normally get when you are a Dark Elf born under The Lady.

Can the loss of attribute points merely be a result of aging? OR is there a such thing in Morrowind? Please help me, and tell me how to solve this!

Thank you.
Looking for a MOD that don't need any Expanisons, and can run on Morrowind 1.20blahblah without any errors, that lets you play as a Huge(At least a little big) hairy monster! MSG me if you got one!

Probably you are attacked by a creature with an innate draining attack, most likely a Bonewalker. Try a restore attribute spell, scroll or potion.

Do the attributes look red? That would indicate, as Moltovir suggests, a curse. Could be an item, could be a monster. Try a potion or spell as he suggests, and if the problem reoccurs, remove all your goods first, then try the potion or spell--and leave the items off for a while, to see if the curse comes back.

How do I see if an item is cursed? And aren't curses suposed to last ony a short time? This problem has been constant for about 6 hours real time, playing.

Where can I find a scroll of remove curse or something, that has a constant effect?

BTW, there are no indications of a curse on me, I guess that should be showing as a RED icon by the Water Walk, Levitate, Resist Fire, that stuffs icons?

Damage Attribute spells last forever even after the red icon disappears.

Remove everything that boosts stats from your body, then use a shrine to restore attributes.

Yeah like if you have met up with a bonewalker than you would have lost endurance and strength, um speed and agility, there is some guy who does it, cant remember but either way the effects are permanent, use potions or shrines or Light of Almelexia if you have mostly conpleted the Mournhold quests

The shrines in Balmora's temple have several options, as I recall. Even more, the shrine in Vivec.

Also, a rather annoying bug is that if you've got, say, a Str enhancing item, and you're STR gets drained, you can only heal up to your original strength. Example: You have 20 Str, you have a +2 Str item on. You get drained for 4 Str, leaving you at 18 str. The temple can only heal you back up to 20. The only way you can fully heal is to take off ALL your stat-enhancing gear that's enhancing stats that have been drained, THEN restore attributes, and then put your gear back on.

No offense meant, but could you please explain this?

if you dont remember getting attacked by a monster that would drain your attributes then maybe someone in your house(other than you obviously) went onto your character and messed him up

Okay...well, that was a point mentioned repeatedly earlier in the thread. :D We also dealt with how to remove that condition.

It sounds like you had either a common or Blight disease, happens a lot in Morrowind. Try buying a cure disease spell from the Orc in the Balmora Mage guild, potions are fairly common, and if you join the Tribunal Temple the use of the shrines becomes cheaper, advance in the temple and eventually it's free.

Be aware that there is a glitch in the game which complicates restoration of attributes. Basically if you are wearing an item which fortifies an attribute, and then it gets damaged, you won't be able to restore it fully, or even be able to see immediately, that it is damaged. You have to remove the fortifying effect before you can restore the attribute, either by restore attribute, or if it's caused by a disease, cure disease.

The above bug, and many more, can be fixed by using the Morrowind Code Patch
