Just finished the game

Post by zanthia »

After nearly 3 months playing I just finished ( is that a record for longest time to play through once, LOL). Finished as a level 35 warwitch. No cheating was done except I did take advantage of the glitch to get more money to buy spells. Favorite spells were zap, blast nova and cataclysm. I never did use rune spells and only used nether spells early on. With level 24 in arcane spells my spells were quite powerful and the cataclysm easily took care of the last 2 bosses in the game.

Thank you for all your help. I am really grateful for this board as I got many questioned answered just from reading past notes and for the help I got when I did ask questions. As it is quiet an old game I understand about the board not being very active.

Not sure what is next for me, maybe NWN2 or gothic 3 or drakensong

not too bad

after reading your post i would like to say congratulations on your victory.
Most people i know never get past the sewers due to lack of wanting to play.

My game finisher was a little different as i used a wizard/paladin with about the same arcane magic but with 12 spell fire, and heavy armor  . Not sure how long it took me because i would get pissed at it and take a break from it then start playing till i got mad again.

after playing i like the type of gameplay i had with DL so i looked into Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Sacred2: Fallen Angel. I am currently playing sacred2 and have found it to be my favorite of the two because it is like dungeon lords in the sense that you can upgrade your stats and skills and have tons of stuff to do (sometimes too much) with many armor and weapon upgrades (like diablo2). Elder Scrolls is like a WoW wannabe but with no skill/stat upgrades (kinda hard to explain) but that upgrade the more you use them.

I will say that elder scrolls has more sense of purpose than sacred2 but i am more in favor of a game with thousands of ways of making a character different

A bit ass-backwards there terran, it should read WoW is like an ES wannabe!

I find it difficult to understand the second part too, there are numerous of ways of making a character different in the ES games too. The flexibility in creating and developing characters is one of the strengths of the ES series.

It was the inflexible approach to character creation and development which marked DL down for me.

Of course the bottom line is which game each of us prefers to play, in that sense there is no right or wrong.

Taking as long as zanthia did to play through the game amazes me, obviously a person with a strong dose of perseverance and, compared to me, a healthy lack of obsessiveness!
