Extra character?

Post by SupaCat »

I finished chapter 1 and I'm ready to go with Oswalds ship. However, I currently have 2 characters:
thief (level 4)/wizard(level 7)
paladin(level 4)/cleric(level 6)

Now, if I'm ever going to get an extra character, I think I should do it now. However, what kind of character? Any suggestions are welcome.
Also, is it a good idea to completely neglect the thief and paladin levels and only level in wizard and cleric?

It's essential that you level your characters only as wizard and cleric, in a party of 2 you'll only reach about character level 20 at the end, level 8 spells are too powerful to try to beat the game without them.

If you add a 3rd character now he'll be several levels behind the others until the end. Since the average level decreases, your characters will get far more combat XP and level faster than without a mule added. The game will become easier, but the party balance will suffer.
Adding additional characters during the game is some kind of cheating because you exploit that the combat XP gained is based on the average party level and not on character level.

Options for additional characters are druid, monk1/druid or barbarian1/druid for access to druid spells or sorcerer or paladin1/sorcerer for spontaneous casting power.
