lost Kalkstein for ghoul blood

Where has this fella gone. I cannot locate hinm in the Inn. I think he was at the gate where I got the srypt quest. Is this happened to anyone else? Also what ismutagen I need to drink this stuff if I can find it.

When you get far enough into Chapter 1, Kalkstein will leave the area, but you'll meet him again in Chapter 2.
