Trying a trio after not playing for like a year..

Post by Chippox of Doom »

Recently installed BG2 again and was gonna try make a trio for some challenge, But so far im having a bit trouble..

Im using Anomen as my tank, and Aerie as support, and my PC is an Thief Assasin.. So far ive had to do ALOT of re-loadings... mainly since anaomen is kinda weak as tank and dies on me.. Im only at the end of stage 2 but its really hard atm... Ive completed the game like 3-4 times, but always with 2 tanks and full 6 man party backing them up.

Will anomen get better? Will this trio work u think? What should i use to boost Anomen?

Thx.

Did you install tactics mod? Maybe thats what's making it so hard.

What do you mean by stage 2? Do you mean chapter 2?

I've never played the tactics mod but solo assassin in an unmodded game using hit and run/stealth tactic (using boots of speed) is very possible witih assassin's high backstab modifier... well in SoA at least.

Anomen is weak as tank due to his ridiculously low dexterity. Gauntlet of Dexterity will really give him the much needed boost for dex giving him major AC bonuses. With that and some cleric buff, he should be at least a fairly decent fighter and tank.

With your current party, you should probably get Boots of speed on your assassin, get his stealth skills up and do a hit, run, stealth tactic to weaken the enemy until they cast true sight/detect illusion then you can get Anomen and Aerie to charge in. After that let your assassin sit back, poison his weapons and try to get a few more extra hits in with his tuigan bow while Anomen tries to hack everything down.

Of course, you can also use traps if you manage to get enough skills in that area.

If you gave some specific scenarios that are killing you and your tactics of what you were doing, you'd get some better advice.

For example, I assume you're buffing Anomen appropriately with Draw Upon Holy Might and the other level 4-5 buffs. Also, when you first encounter a group of enemies, having Aerie throw a Fireball/Skull Trap and Anomen throw a Holy Smite or Hold Person should help soften them up, especially in the early chapters.

Also, once you're in the thick of combat, assuming your PC isn't evil, you can drop Holy Smites from either cleric right on top of your party and only evil characters/monsters will take damage. A good tactic for aerie once she's exhaused her Wizard combat spells.

Yea im getting the hang of it now, i just had real trouble in the begining.. Couldnt even complete D'arnese keep

But now ive learned how to buff em and got some good gear i find everything really easy now, with only 3 in party i levele up real fast, my assasin one shots almost everything except bosses.

Only thing i got probs with atm is dragons, havent tried MAYOR monster/undead summon yet tho, only tried with summon undead.
