Master Thrower's tricks

Post by BornForBattle »

I'm planning to add the 5 levels of Master Thrower to my Rogue character but I have a question about their thrown weapon tricks.

Can you use more than one trick with the same attack? For example, could I throw my dagger at an enemy using the Sneaky shot trick, denying the opponent their dex bonus to AC, and also the trick Weak Spot, denying their armor bonus to AC?

Could I take this further by also using the Doubletoss trick, allowing me to attack two targets as a ranged touch attack, with no dex bonus doing sneak attack damage? :eek:

There doesn't appear to be any mention of how many tricks you may use together and this sounds like a fantastic combination to me. Thanks.

A short but very sweet answer, thanks.

It combines pretty well with Invisible Blade, especially if you use the 10-lvl variant. (It can be found on the internet somewhere. It was the original form of the class.)

I have looked at the Invisible Blade but I just don't like the idea of not wearing any armour at all. You would need a really high Intelligence modifier to make it worthwhile and it's unlikely that someone with such a high Intelligence wouldn't be a focused spellcaster.

a) You can wear bracers to provide an armour bonus. (You would miss out on armour special abilities, though). Not using the Unfettered Defence ability isn't a big loss, considering:
b) The real beauty is Feint Mastery and the added Sneak Attack, which combines well with the Rogue levels you've likely taken.
c) Skill points are sweet.
d) High Int = Good use of Knowledge Devotion (especially with the high number of attacks you're getting) and Educated, if you have the feat slots to spare.

I'd also consider dipping one or two levels in Swordsage, to get easier access to Shadow Blade. (=Dex to damage with daggers.)

@GawainBS

I have yet to ever find a rule that specifically states a Bracers of Armor cannot gain special armor abilities and considering the description of bracers of armor states "It provides an armor bonus" (not just a random other name bonus) and "Functions just like armor," I as a DM usually allow special abilities to be attached.

So anyone curious about this rule needs to really ask their DM. It's not official, but there are no rules specifically against it.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

I agree, and I allow them to be used as such too, but a lot of DMs don't.
