jade empire, english spoken?
I just started to play Jade Empire for PC, and there are english voices. Is it supposed to be like this, or are other languages also selectable?

I don't recall being able to select any other languages when I played it. It's mosty English though some character speak in a fictional language Bioware had made. What did you expect though?

Did you try to uninstall it and make a fresh reinstall?
Doing this sometimes solve problems. I, for one, had to uninstall and reinstall Baldur's Gate after every Windows Update (the problem was not text related though).
If a reinstall does not solve the problem, it may be font related. I don't know about Jade Empire, but I know that for some games, you need to add the game's font to your Windows font folder to be able to read the text.
Hope this helps.

I don't have the game on my PC, so I can't really tell you in which folder it is. (And I am not even sure that is the problem.)
Have you checked the official Jade Empire's forums on Bioware's website? I had a quick look and it seems some people had the same problem (especially with the Steam version).
My proposition was just a guess, maybe you could find a tried and true solution there.
Let us know if you find something there.

I tried to do some research, but the info about this issue is hard to get.
(I don't have a Bioware account either.)
The only thing I have found is that some people had the same problem with other Bioware games and it seems it was mostly due to the screen resolution, a patch or a mod. I personally don't know of any mod or patch for the PC version of Jade Empire, so maybe it's a screen resolution issue. Did you try other resolutions?

Maybe you could put the link to the Bioware thread here. There is a good chance that some GameBanshee members are also official members of the Bioware forums and could have a look.
I would have loved to help more, but that's pretty much all I can do. (If I think of anything else, I'll let you know.)
Good luck!
