My first backstab with an NPC was with Valygar i hunted him down and he joined with me for some quests and i went to the planar sphere and opened it and then i sent him to the cowled wizard and got some item and nice exp and at the same time i got some good equipment from the shere. :D :D

And i also killed Keldorn in the sewers. :p

Tain't evil killing NPCs, citizens, etc. That's being a psychopath. I remember having that discussion with players when I was a gamemaster in DragonRealms, the massively multiplayer yadada.

Kid gets a couple of levels. Next thing we know, newbies, fresh out of getting a weapon and a map, are being killed by said kid. Kid is pulled up for a conference. "HEY IM ROLLPLAYING EVIL BAKOFF FREEKS!!!!!!?!!!" Kid is told that roleplaying anything means creating a character series of actions in sync with one's environment. Kid curses, and says it's his guaranteed right under the Constitution to do whatever he wants online. Gamemaster chuckles, and locks kid out, telling him to write to Simutronics for permission to resume playing. ;)

So let me pose to all my fellow roleplayers out there: just how do you *really* roleplay an evil party in BG2? Other than by killing the silver dragon, that is? :D

well most of the quests are designed for good parties. (BOO!!!) i quess roleplaying evil in soa and tob means doing the stuff for selfish reasons like the rewards... but still the rep goes up and even though me being evil doesn't that i'm a psychopath i have to kill a bum every once in a while to keep the rep low enough. which is stupid. better evil paths should have been offered. even the best npcs are evil.

@fable....i have no idea, that's why i'm checking it out ;)

i decided no good characters in my party and 4 being the max...so that makes me (LE monk), korgan, edwin and viconia...and man it was really really hard to say no to minsc and others :( and it appears i will get bored with not doing all the quests thus not finish with this group...

A list of some quests you can do evil:
*The Copper Coronet- (tell Lehtinas that Henrak is trying to escape)
*Tradesmeet- the druid grove (accept the evil alternative given to you), the genies (kill them), the families (give it to one family)
*Windspear Hills- Make a deal w/Firkraag
*Skinners/Underdark- Make the Human Skin armor, preferably by going through Ust'Natha quests but allowing the matron mother to sacrifice the eggs...I think that gets you the most XP
*Side with Bodhi- also, do the more abhorrent quest for her
*Saughuin City- Side with the fish king- especially if you're a monk

That's all off the top of my head but there might be more

@fable - It's not my fault the game is so limited in its scope for me to be actively and demonstrably evil. The real warts and all role play as evil is to pick all the nasty dialogue options. You lose rep points and opportunities but as role playing its as close as you get in BG (I&II). It is also some fun because often there was a dialogue option which made me laugh a lot but my good character couldn't say. (eg. to Daleson - start walking and see how far you get).

Makes for almost unlimited replay too i.e.: to get to be able to say "Take a hike mommy" (that caused coffee to come out my nose) to Aerie you have to have said/done the right things up to then.

That said the whole Phsyco-killer thing takes NO imagination what-so-ever and really lacks ambition. Firkragg is a much nastier evil type because he is into torment and humiliation not just mindless gib spreading. - Curdis

The man in red kill him and his friends and get the kiddnap ransom is being evil.... oh yeh and you get some thing special, by the way you lose 2 rep points as well.

And kill the guy in waukeen's Promanade when you have Vic and the guard will attack you and you lose 4 rep points.

To fable's question you can play evil if you find out all the dialoges to the games.

Its not evil thats the issue alone, its the degree of evil. Chaotic Evil would best suit Horses style of game play..so if his wish is to play an unpredictable element of living evil w/no loyalty to any-one other than his own whims(murder,ect..), than woohoo..you hit the target! But then again, evil and its meaning/examples varies according to the person. Many people of faith(religion) see serial killers as evil, associating killing and the need to do so with evil..rather than a mental/chemical disorder or defect. Where as others see evil as a force simple working against anything that could be considered 'good'(happiness,success,order,ect..), solely for the purpose of seeing them other than such. In the latter..selfishness and self drive even leading to the death of a person would not be considered evil. But stealing, killing, aswell as causing chaos and disorder with a sole drive just to bring unhappiness, disorder, death and anything that could be considered in opposition our view of 'good' would be evil.
