Killing Echinops

Post by cadfael »

I am having trouble with the echinops in the swamp area, I get killed every time even though I blast them with fire as often as I can. I was able to kill them in Odo's garden, but they have become stronger. I try to avoid these horrible plants but they spring up without much warnng and their poison thorns do a lot of damage before I can get close enough to hit them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have the sillver sword and am at the 11th rank. :(

The swamp doesn't only have Echinops, it also has some Archespores which are much more difficult to kill. As well as using the silver sword, you should use FAST style on them. Incinerate them when you can, take a potion of tawny owl at the start of combat to restore endurance and until you are stronger use a potion of blizzard (increases speed) or thunderbolt (increases damage) to make you more combat effective (due to toxicity of thunderbolt, use one or the other.) Coating your sword in oil or using a whetstone or grindstone before the fight is a good plan too. When there is a lull in combat, just sharpen up your sword and it will be ready for the next fight, if I recall correctly it dulls with use rather than over time.

They don't really move very much. You can rush them with a blast of Incinerate, and then back away, wait until your Endurance bar restores and they stop burning, rinse and repeat.
(works for Archespores too)

How to kill echinops

How does one "rinse"? Thanks for the response. :o I think I have that one figured out. Rinse in the watery parts of the swamp. Right?
