Question regarding proficency points.

Post by dmxdex »

I have noticed in order to benefit from more than 1 proficency point in each weapon you need to have high strength. I have imoen with only 15 strength and 2 proficency points in short bow, yet the records page under bonuses still shows 0 to hit and 0 to damage when it should show +1 to hit and +2 to damage. Im confused?

Thief/mages like Imoen can't have 2 proficiency points in a weapon.

Shes only a thief for game. Im using it as an example. I just dont understand it. I have got 2 proficency points into my main characters sling. Which should now add +1 to hit and +2 to damage. My records page does not show the increase though. I have now seen that 18 strength will give +1 to hit and +2 to damage in the bonunses regardless of having specialsed in a any weapon. The only place my records page shows anything to do with weapons proficencys is that the weapon has ++ next to it to confirm it has 2 points. But none of my stats indicate the extra damage or to hit. Just confused by it really.

Edit.

I just wacked my dexterity all the way up to 18 as well as my strength.

I put 2 points into the sling. My THAC0 is now 17. Does that mean the +1 to hit and +2 to damage have put the THAC0 down from 20 to 17? man this game is confusing.

IIRC, STR/DEX bonuses are recorded on a different place in the character sheet than proficiency bonuses. Proficiency bonuses are at the bottom.
