Need help with build. Beginner

Post by Piratesque »

Hi. Just got my hands on NWN2 and I need some help with a nice Fighter build.

The thing I want to do is to wear a 2-handed sword and be Human, but i don't know about multiclassing and feats. Would be really nice if you could help a beginner to start his adventure.

Which campaigns do you have (OC: Original Campaign/NWN2; MOTB: Mask of the Betrayer; SOZ: Storm of Zehir):

OC alone, or

OC + MOTB, or

OC + SOZ, or

OC + MOTB + SOZ?

..the reason for the question is that each campaign adds classes and feats (which can sometimes result in a better build for you).

Note that "2-handed sword" equals either Falchion or Greatsword. Greatsword provides a bit more damage on a non-critical hit, but has fewer critical hits. The Falchion has a bit less damage on each hit, but criticals more often.

IF you have very good strength and other means to increase physical damage, then Falchion is usually a better choice.

Note that by using a two-handed sword that you cannot use a shield (..though most shields only have a minor increase in AC, so it might not be much of deal to you in the campaigns).

Here is a build I just created that only requires the OC:

http://nwn2db.com/build.php?id=34369&version=1

Once you get the Frenzied Berserker's Empowered Power Attack at level 11, you'll have +10 to damage (instead of +3) from Power Attack. (..and that's +10 damage per hit.) At level 12 with Improved Power Attack on you'll have +20 to damage.

Once you get to Fort Locke, (which is *very* early in the game), you should be able to craft a standard Falchion (..hint, do this if you don't have one already). If you have Alchemical Silver, then consider making it out of that (..which you can do skill-wise at level 5). Latter-on you can have party members enchant enhancements (etc.) into your weapon.

Knockdown should be useful against many opponents, but in particular nearly always attack the closest spell caster with Knockdown first (..and kill them once they are knocked down). You use Knockdown by opening up your character sheet, selecting the top middle tab (feats), scrolling down to the feat Knockdown, and "drag/drop" the icon over to your quick bar at the bottom of your screen. Then to use it, left click on the quick bar Knockdown icon and target the enemy you are interested in Knocking down.
