Encounters-Giant Crabs

Post by goon2 »

Help! I came across Giant Crabs at one of those random encounters (this one occurred whilst going to Moorbridge Mashes from Ferdok). None of my weapons are able to deliver more than 1 or 2 damage to the crab. My party always ended up getting trashed! How do you kill those Giant Crabs?

I remember the crabs as being tough but not impossible or anything. Have you tried using magic spells or special combat moves against them?

Yes i did. Casting thunderbolts seemed to do the most damage-but still only about 8 or so. But those Crabs have high hit points! And their armour class must be way up high. Weapons just seem to score 0 damage frequently!!

Well, those random encounters on the world map are random (both in what you face and if you face anything), so if you have a save in Ferdok before leaving, you can always load it and try traveling to Moorbridge again. There are crabs in Moorbridge, but you'll only face them one at a time there.

Yes i did save just before i left Ferdok. I guess i will have to try again, moving from Ferdok to Moorbridge. And hope the crabs don't randomly appear again. I just can't seem to kill those crabs. I think i need more powerful weapons. And also to bump up my spellcaster.
Many thanks.

Try to cast burn or something fire things. that deal the best damage for them, and everybody attack one after one. and this will help you out any trouble.

A quite bump. Probally the OP already figured it out by the time.
Anyway, those giant crabs do much damage yes, but you can take them down.
Be sure that you have a high Willpower (you can withstand pain and be able to do special attacks) and also have invested in Constitution and Endurance. And if melee, then don't forget Strength. And invest now and them also in weapon skills.
And indeed, focus on one crab. 2 or more will result that you're sended to Boron. Use the melee ones to smack it down (activate offensive combat and use mighty blow), set the weaklings to a defensive stand (like gladys) and use one for healing (can be gladys or yourself) You can perform magic, but be sure to stay out of the crab. But actually magic doesn't do enough damage. Melee is your best bet, eventually combined with ranged.
