Greetings everyone,
My character has recently acquired the skull of a young adult Deep Dragon, i would like to have it made into a large shield but am not sure as to what properties if could have put into it. The dragon itself had DR5/magic so that might survive the forging process, I also had hoped it could add 4 to my AC due to its hardness which was a natural armor 21 The large shield I currently had adds 2 to my ac now. It also had spell resistance 21 but I don't think that would remain though some residue might. Currently I have SR13 so anything higher then that would be a bonus. I also think it would be lighter as (according to the draconomicon) dragon items are one category lighter so it would weigh as much as a medium shield. Because it is Dragon Bone I don't think I can have it magicked so I am looking for any residual effects when I make my presentation to my DM as to what my plans are for the Dragon Skull. Any thoughts on this from anyone who has crafted an item of this type would be helpful both from a character viewpoint and a DM's viewpoint.
Thanks
what to do with dragon skull?
what to do with dragon skull?
Between Vietnam, Agent Orange, and male menopause I am no longer responsible for my actions............:speech:
As a PC, I have used dragon remnants to make into something else. I suggest making sure you know where a master craftstman is and a high-level wizard. Still chance of failing or destroying the item exists, as you know. Have a lot of gold!ancientdm wrote:Greetings everyone,

As a DM, I would definitely allow it. A dragon is, after all, a magical creature. As such, anything on them would be feasible to have infused with magic. Yes, it would have to be something along the line of the dragon's nature, I would think (let the rolls begin to determine what) but it makes sense to me!
Thanks Tammy, as a DM I also would allow converting items such as this I just want to get all my dragons in a row before I e-mail my DM on creating this shield. I had a party member once take the Dorsal fin off a land shark and turn it into a shield. to 3 months of work on it but when done it offered him a -2AC on his shield side. For those who have never payed 1st edition you started as 10 and went down so the lower the number of your AC the better.
