***SPOILERS***

Go back to where you picked up Imoen. If you go up the starcase on to the right of your screen, you will come to the passage just after it has gone though the trap. That is the other way that was referred to.

There's a stair to the north-east of where you start. Use that one.
I'll kick ass in BG2.

Summon some sceletons and send them to the trap. Once fired, trap is disarmed.

Don't send summoned monsters in to the trap. I had Edwin send an ogre berserker into it, and when it died, so did Edwin, and he was back with my party. I tested this several times with the same results. Apparently, elementals work fine, however.

That might have been a bug. I've had no problem using summoned monsters to spring those traps. I usually spring the first one, then lure the waiting Yuan Ti into the second one.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

just go north up the staircase and attack the Yuan Ti from the back. That way you don't have to waste a summoning spell.
