Ebon Hawk gun turret

Post by ChrisRobt »

I'm ready to turn my KOTOR CD into a frisbee; I don't like "shoot-em-ups" and can't get away from Taris. Any help would be appreciated (I'm playing on a PC). I've read the advice posted on this forum, but I keep getting killed. Isn't there some way I can skip this section?

Just hit escape to pause it as soon as you hear Carth's drivel. Place your left thumb over the spacebar and your right hand on the mouse, then unpause and mash the spacebar as hard as possible whilst waving the mouse around like a careening drunk. With any luck there'll only be two or three fighters left after that, which you can pick off at your leisure.

Try to take out as many as you can at the very begining(for they all come frome the same direction in one group), clicking with your mouse button like crazy (should be able to take out at least 2). After that try to take them when they are coming in to fire (for they make easily predictable usually straight moves and are also coming closer to you) or when they are passing by the ship.

Okay, I tried the ESC then the spacebar trick with no noticeable difference; what is supposed to happen? I just start shooting when the action starts; still can't seem to target those guys and this time I died with only two left...

You can always try setting the game difficulty to easy before starting that part of the game. I don't know if anyone's suggested this before....

The idea is to shoot down as many of them as you can in the first few seconds of the sequence, when they're all flying straight at you in a cluster. But you can't get rid of all of them this way, there'll still be a few remaining... the easiest way to hit them after they've scattered is to concentrate on one fighter, then follow it until it makes a run at the Hawk, and fire on it either as it's flying at you, or as it's flying away, or both.

Thanks for the help; I did finally somehow get past those fighters. I didn't know there is a way to change the difficulty of the game. Also, it didn't seem to me that pushing the spacebar made any difference in the gun turret.

One thing to do is to reduce graphics settings to a lower setting (800x600). This works for swoop racing as well, and makes it far easier to handle the mini-games which are tossed around. Beating times in swoop racing becomes a leisurely pursuit and shooting down the fighters becomes much easier.

I usually just watch the dots after the beginning sequence to see when one looks to be coming in. You basically get warning if one is by the shots and you can quickly turn and take out the one dot you see is closest. Usually they fly in and fly out in a straight line in those instances so you don't have to try and track as hard as you otherwise have to when they are flying some distance away.

They give you the radar for a reason, and if you can figure out the speed they are moving with that and manage to time the speed of your shoots with the changing speed of those fighters as they change directions, good for you! I personally prefer the "pick 'em off when they come in for attack runs" plan, which works even better after you shoot like a deranged wookiee in the beginning!

turets fight

There are only 6 fighters. At the beginning, try to hit 1-3 fighters then shoot down the rest one by one, listening to the attack sound. I found it pretty fun because it does cause your heart beat a little faster.

You can start shooting before the screen loads completely. That can help you kill off all the fighters before they break into different paths.
