To avoid starting a new topic, but I just got this warning again while trying to access the Deus Ex subside. It looks like hell didn't consume these people quickly enough.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
I just cleaned up some more files, including the infected files in the Baldur's Gate II and Deus Ex subsites. If you notice any other infected parts of the web site, please post here or send a PM to BuckGB.

There's a host of them still in place at the PS:T walkthrough.

GameBanshee reported as maleware site by Firefox
Hi, I noticed just today that Firefox had flagged GameBanshee as a potentially dangerous site due to it apparently having 2 reported attacks in the last 90 days. I'm not sure how serious (or true) these allegations are, but it might be a good idea to clear the matter up with StopBadware, who apparently provide this information to Mozilla and others.

We've been having some problems the last few days. You might want to read this thread.

You get the warning in that section, but as far as I can tell the files are clean. It seems to take a couple of days for the warnings to go away.Grispil wrote:I've also noticed the badware message while browsing through the Dungeon Siege II section.
Edit: Ditto with PS:T.

I have a clean backup of all the GameBanshee content files and have been using it to overwrite any infected files that show up since this whole debacle started. I also have a script in place that deletes any unwanted .htaccess files that show up in our folders.
These are temporary fixes, but rest assured that I've been working on a permanent solution. Since the server is going to require a fresh install of the operating system anyway (for a $300 fee), I've been making use of this "opportunity" to research our options for a better hosting provider. I've been happy with Verio over the past 10 1/2 years, but ultimately they're pretty expensive, their backup service is way too much money for what you get, and they take a very hands-off approach when it comes to support.
At the moment I'm trying to decide whether cloud hosting would be a good fit for our setup. If so, it could mean a considerably smaller bill each month while also giving us a lot of flexibility. If anyone here has worked with Amazon EC2 or Rackspace CS and would be willing to share their experience, I'd love to hear about it.

Just curious, how many days does it usually take for one of our subsections to be deemed "safe"? Our Arcanum section is still inaccessible from when we started getting these issues.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
There is nothing wrong with the content on the Arcanum subsite - Google just has it flagged as unsafe, and I'm still working to have it lifted.
I just inked the contract on a new server over the weekend, so I'll be porting over all of the GameBanshee data this week. Everything will be patched and sealed up tight on the new server, and there will be a backup service running that stores all of the operating system files (in addition to all the GB files, which is what we were focusing on backing up before). There are a couple of other changes that will be coming as part of this project, too, which I'll cover in greater detail as they take shape.
