Solo Mission #1 Log 4: Dragon Room Crash

Post by Novos »

Hey all,

Kensai/Mage is now up to Kensai:9 Mage:19 and is kicking insurmountable quantities of posterior. Decided to head to the shadow dragon near the Umar Hills. I managed to get in once, failed to beat him. Screwed it for the time being to finish shadowlord quest, went back in to try again, crashed. Every time I go in that room I seem to be getting a crash. Thankfully, I didn't have to go that route to escape the forest.

In any case, this is kind of disappointing. I could handle skipping this encounter, but what if this happens with Firkraag too? Anyone know anything about it?

Thanks Gents,
- Rob

The first time through did you revert to a previous save when you realised you couldn't beat the Shadow Dragon, and then walk through without disturbing it; or did you flee out of the western exit (to the Shadow Lord encounter) leaving spells still active. From your description it sounds like it was the latter, and my suspicion if that's the case is that the lingering effect, probably graphical, is causing the problem. If that's the case, then unless someone comes up with a solution you'll have to leave this unfinished; it shouldn't however have any relevance for the Firkraag encounter. Fortunately, apart from the monetary aspect, there's nothing in the rewards for that (or even the Firkraag encounter) that is of any use to a solo Kensai/Mage. It means you won't get the Shadow Dragon armour, which you couldn't wear, or later in the game create Crom Feyr. The latter is a minor setback if you had envisaged usingit in your off hand for the 25 strength, but you really don't need it. You don't gain anything you can use from Firkraag either, but I think that encounter should work OK anyway.

One other question, have you installed any mods since your first encounter with the Shadow Dragon, I suspect not, but that does need clarifying.

I reverted to a previous save. Shadow dragon currently knows not of my existence. And no I did not install any mods in that time frame.

History of Installation:

1. Install BG2: SoA
2. Install "you cannot initiate dialogue, dumbass appears busy" bugfix.
3. Install BG2:ToB
4. Install Shadowkeeper to change fighter model to mage model.
5. Shadow Dragon Encounter.

Thanks for the help :)

Don't know this thing. You should instal mods / fixes etc AFTER ToB AND ToB patch. This can be the reason right there.

I was thinking thats what it was. In any case, I tried Firkraag yesterday, seemed to be working fine. Shadow Draggy still giving problems though. Gonna try and store the character and saved game file on a USB Key and reinstall.

Thanks boys :)

Why not spawn the shadow dragon yourself and avoid the AREA he's in.

Use the CLUA console, full details how to can be found here.

The code for the Shadow Dragon, Thaxll'ssillyia, is shadra01.cre.

A funny thing happened. I threw away my dragon ward stone and leftover sun gem, and the room loaded fine! Shadow dragon fell woooo!

Got another problem of a similar nature though. My apprenti in the sphere have all graduated and I've been called by teos to meet up. When I get to the sphere and we realize we've been tricked, a number of warp gates appear, and then simply cancel. After that im unable to talk to teos, I presume its bugged. Anyone know whats going on with that?
