"Wait! Bush Was RIGHT?"

Post by Kaer »

It sounds horribly partisan of me, but I guess it's just ingrained now. First thought to go through my mind. Not a bad post for post 100 on GameBanshee either (wee, another site I was on stole me away for a while for a bunch of debates).

Uh, turns out, according to Wikileaks, that there were WMDs in Iraq, and plans to make more once the heat was off. I'm not sure how I feel on this, but it turns out that Bush has been vindicated.

There was nuclear materials in Iraq, with plans to make many more to follow. Iraq was on the verge of becoming the next nuclear power. Considering the hell we put Bush through claiming there was nothing there as a people, not only Canadians, but basically Western society as a whole...

Before we give him a parade we need to consider that there had to be a good reason why the presence of that stuff was kept hush. Why would any politician endure the 4 years of ridicule and bad PR if he had evidence that he was right all along. Something else is at play here. I am curious as to the true source of that yellowcake.

Who cares? If Bush really cared about WMDs in the hands of fanatics he would have taken on Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel.

Also, like jklinders said, there has to be a reason this wasn't mentioned earlier. We also need to consider that Bush also said Saddam was in league with bin Laden, among other things.

My thoughts exactly. Oilcake. They probably could have swept in and out to take care of some weapons. But no, let's introduce democracy in that place in particular. Considering Africa and South-America, the US isn't exactly in the practise of invading dictatorships. It has even encouraged the odd dictatorship to remain in place.

Well, they most likely willingly harbor al-Qaeda and have posed a constant threat to India. Maybe they aren't "fanatics", but they're one of the last countries that should have WMDs.

I'd give the top 3 to Israel, Saudi Arabia and Korea.. Funny, two of them do have WMD's

Saudi Arabia? Really? We're so buddy-buddy with them it's almost gross. They're certainly not worse than Pakistan, or many other countries. Remember Africa has a lot of crazy governments. Mugabe with nukes would be like the AI in Alpha Centauri... "Why the hell does he keep attacking and ignoring my diplomacy?? He's got like four dudes and two bases! Wait... now he wants me to give him stuff? WTF?! He launched another bomb???!"

The Hush Hush was probably over the fact that everyone was selling weapons to Iraq and had been since the 70's. He didn't want to make it public that Iraq had the means to launch missiles onto its neighbours and further... because certain companies had sold them the materials - as it would be bad for their stock - and the government. My guess is also that he was able to bring the UK so easily on board with this - because there were enough evidence to bury them also and they needed (were itching for this fight) a war to clean up and remove any evidence, before the UN did discover something embarrasing.

It is highly suspect that Bush etc. were adamant on the fact there were WMD's but did not give the UN enough evidence to find them... the only reason being was that the US did not want them to and were clear on going to war without a UN mandate! The Russians could blame the Soviet Union on any trade... and China just says **** off! and neither deny or confirm anything.

This is speculation of course... call me paranoid!

Nicely put! That's the kind of thing I want to read a bit more about in the media.

I'd actually say that all 3 of them have WMD's. Before you scoff, I would like all of you to consider what would happen if some terrible disaster happened to all the oil wells in Saudi Arabia. Whether it was simply turning the taps off or "terrorism". Just sayin'

Yes, really. Country which treats its women as cattle, and allows stoning them to death for beign a rape victim (stoning at ALL) shouldn't even exist these days, let alone have WMD's for crying out loud!

The same thing goes for all religion-driven countries and all dictatorships.

Fair enough.
China just says **** off! and neither deny or confirm anything.
And get's rid off everyone who tries to confirm or deny anything.

Yet.. I see trees of green, and red roses too..

Yeah. Scary part is ; It has been like that since the dawn of humanity, and some still don't see it's true nature.

Why is everyone so worried about North Korea? Yes, they treat their people like crap and they're communists but North Korea is a country that's not going to use nuclear weapons unless they are attacked. This is a fact. Same goes for Venezuela, they're nuts but not that nuts.

Muslims on the other hand have no problem carrying out suicide attacks and pulling off all kind of stupid crap knowing the consequences. I'm extremely worried that even Pakistan has nuclear weapons. My top 3 worst nations get their hairy hands on nukes is Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

Hate to break it to you religion haters but this democracy was founded on religious views.

And I really doubt Jesus would promote killing, seeing as that's what the Jews killed him for not doing.

Your first mistake is believing that if people profess a religious view doesn't necessarily mean that it's accurate of the actual religion, many people take bits and pieces to fit their criteria...

I don't like being an ass, but you asked for it.
