Gangrel character suggestions

Post by Tsagia »

First of all I have to tell you that I finished the game the other day with a Toreador character and I want to thank everyone who bothered to post in my thread about the elevator bug.Thank you guys for your help and support.I did what you told me,I restarted the game with another character,a Toreador and finished it with the Camarilla ending.

Now I started the game again with a Gangrel character and I would like your opinions please.

My thoughts for now are these:

Focus on intimidation, the necessary points on ranged combat and a good lockpicking ability.

But here's what I want to ask...should I spend points at melee or instead focus on brawl?Because I'm definetely going to spend a lot of points on animalism and protean. This character has some amazing disciplines and I don't know what to do and how to spend the points yet.

I also want to get some good points for the haggle feat so I can buy stuff cheaper.I gotta spend some points for the Haggle feat too.

First of all, there is no reason to go after BOTH close and ranged combat. At the end of the day specializing in either is enough. Especially as a Gangrel you'll have no problem shrugging off bullets. As for melee or brawl, while morphed you cannot equip weapons. You only use your claws, which adds damage on top of brawl. Specializing in brawl allows for a lot of other points to be used elsewhere. You can still equip the most destructive ranged weapon regardless and it will still be just as deadly.

Note that both the Gangrel and the Brujah provide good opportunities to play a low-humanism game. Just make sure your humanism is at it lowest at all times (though you won't be able to go rock bottom right from the start; you need quests to truly bring it down) and travel by sewers so you don't lose control and go on a rampage. This also makes it VERY important to manage your blood levels, making the occasional trip to a club or back alley for a drink or two all the more important.

The major benefit here are new dialogue options to be discovered that may surprise you. Some people will like you a lot more, some will like you a lot less. Others in particular will experience true terror. :p

Oh ?

I never thought of that.

Maybe I should try a third walkthrough soon after all. :D

It's a rather fun playstyle, especially if you're already quite familiar with the game and know how certain characters will act. ;)

In response to the OP, I would definitely avoid ranged and melee, and focus exclusively on brawl. Other character types can focus on either as well as the Gangrel, but unarmed combat is where the Gangrel really shines. Little perks like more or less always being able to feed on your last enemy, or enjoying improved benefits from Protean form, makes this character style both unique and rewarding.

Good point, forgot about the Protean form. I am pretty sure the bonuses of Brawling stack on top of the shape's.
