I'm currently playing a Stealth character, lvl 3, Dark Elf, Female, Thief sign, Custom class Shadowbolt, with Will and End as +5 bonuses. Majors are: Armourer, Alteration, Mysticism, Acrobatics, Marksman, Security, Sneak.
Another Char I am also playing concurrently is Magic based, lvl 6, High Elf, Female, Atronach sign, Custom class Shadowfire, with Str and End as +5 bonuses. Majors are: Armourer, Blade, Alteration, Acrobatics, Marksman, Security, Sneak.
And if you are wondering why she has very similar Majors to the Stealth char, it's because she is very vulnerable, having 25 weakness to Fire, Frost, and Shock, plus not being able to regenerate magica, so she needs to be able to use both a blade and a bow in case she runs out. Later in the game she will be ok, but just now, she needs all the tricks she can use! I've never played Atronach sign before, bar once when I gave up at lvl 2.

I have only done some of the recommendation quests for the mage guild and they have been quite enjoyable. Plus I can take all the food from around the guild halls and make potions to sell for money, so far I only have 600 Septim but its getting there ;p
I have some how managed to acquire a black bow without doing what you recommended Ares.. I am unsure how but it seems quite good and is better than anything I had at the time
Also my Sneak is only at 41/42 atm, how high would you recommend me to get it to before ensuring the that the dark brother hood can find me
;D
So far I've cleared 2 dungeons, well atleast I think they were dungeons, caves with doors on that have a lot of chests and some npcs inside that need killing?
I'm finding it quite hard to just randomly find dungeons though which is why I decided to start the mage guild quest line
Your characters seem quite interesting Fljotsdale and I would love to know how you get along with them later on ;D

I usually do some of the quests in the Imperial City when I start out, plus the three locations close to the City: Vilverin, which is an Ayleid Ruin; Dzonot Cave; and Sideways Cave. Vilverin is opposite the place you emerge from the original Sewers; Sideways Cave is found if you walk to the right and look for the headland as you emerge from the original sewer; Dzonot is a cave just over the water near the House for Sale on the Waterfront.
Spoiler stuff, if you want to be spoiled:
Spoiler
Dzonot is pretty straightforward, not very big, and the loot isn't great, but it's saleable and gives you experience. Use your bow, preferably poisoned, for all of 'em, but you'll have to go into melee with the boss at the end after you shoot him. He's tougher.
Sideways is in 3 parts. It's got quite a few imps in it shooting fire, frost or lightening at you. But if you explore the place really well you should find some stuff worth having. Explore each section carefully. Make sure you don't miss a turning in the first section.
Vilverin is the largest of them, and has some useful stuff, besides the usual low-level loot. Your bow will come in very handy here as well, but you will also have some melee fights. There is a magic user at the end. Oh - and there is something purporting to be a 'statue' in the middle of a dangerous area. Take it. Selling it opens another quest after a short while.

Yeah it is a bit harder than that! Push it too far over and and they refuse your offer!Nathxoxo wrote:Ah caves my bad heheI'll be sure to head to imperial city and check them 3 locations out once I have some spare time
and thanks for the tips, I'am sure they'll come in handy just like the rest of your tips have ;D
Another question incoming!!How does the 'haggle' button work exactly? I've clicked it and noticed the slider and what not, if I was to put it all the way to the right side, is that all I need to do in order to get better prices? I would of thought it would of been a bit harder than that

Have you tried to play the Persuasion minigame you get when you hit the buton at the extreme left on the conversation options page? If you do it right it will improve their 'liking' level for you, so you will get better prices. It can be a bit of a pain until you get the hang of it. It is simpler just to use Bribe to put up their liking level, but if you are short of cash... Check it out on the Wiki page cos it takes too much typing to describe in detail!

I have yet to try the persuasion minigame but I have noticed it and wondered what it was for, and now I know
PS: Are petty soul gems worth keeping hold of or should I sell them?
Question time again guys hehe ;D
Here goes..Right if I was to level up but not sleep to actually 'level up' any skills that effect my attributes such as endurance or agility, would that contribute to the multiplier I'll get when I sleep, or will it contribute for my next level up?
I hope that makes sense ;3

In vanilla Oblivion the're only useful early on. Because all of the creatures level with you, after you get a few levels, you won't find any creatures wimpy enough to fit into those soul gems, and same goes for lesser soul gems and common and so on. The only exception being Grand Soul gems, they can capture creatures of any level and also Black Soul gems which can capture humanoids of any level.

Ok I'm not a 100% sure I understand what you're asking, but if you're asking whether the skills you level up after you get the "You must sleep to level up" message go to your current level or towards the next level, then the answer is, they go towards the next level.

Ares is right about petty soul gems - but not early in the game. You should have found one in the starter dungeon that contains a soul. It's useful for adding a minor enchantment to an item on an alter of enchantment - either your own or at the Mage's Guild University. All soul gems containing souls are also useful for recharging magical weapons (there are other ways to recharge 'em, but don't despise lower-level soul gems - they can be life savers!) If you buy the Soul Trap spell, and you have empty soul gems, you can fill 'em yourself.

So any soul gem can recharge a magical weapon right back up to all its uses?Fljotsdale wrote:Ares is right about petty soul gems - but not early in the game. Not all the way. It depends on how powerful the soul trapped in the soul gem. Note I said how powerful the SOUL is not how powerful the SOUL GEM is.Nathxoxo wrote:So any soul gem can recharge a magical weapon right back up to all its uses?![]()
Meaning a Petty Soul Gem with a Petty Soul will recharge an item for the same amount as a Grand Soul Gem with a Petty Soul in it. But a Grand Soul Gem with a Grand Soul in it will recharge for way more.
I don't remember the exact amounts, though I'm sure you can find it in the wiki.
Ah ok mate, do I have to trap the souls my self? Because atm I am sure they are empty lol!Ares2382 wrote:Not all the way. It depends on how powerful the soul trapped in the soul gem. Note I said how powerful the SOUL is not how powerful the SOUL GEM is.

No! Would that it could!Nathxoxo wrote:So any soul gem can recharge a magical weapon right back up to all its uses?![]()
The top level soul gems can recharge most items fully - you get told how much it will recharge when you go to use it on an item - but lower-level souls can give you enough juice to help get you out of trouble; and of course, if you have several low level filled gems you can use 'em all up to get as much juice into your magical item as possible. Don't waste high-level gems on minor magic weapons cos they will very likely have more juice than the weapon can hold so anything over the weapon limit is wasted: the gems don't store parts of souls!

No, no bank.Nathxoxo wrote:Ah ok thanks for answering my question![]()
I have yet another oneIs there like a bank where I can store some of my items? I am having to delete items when in a dungeon or cave to make space to pick up the items in the dungeon so I can sell them and make profit, which is rather annoying ;p
In the meantime, you can store stuff temporarily in containers you can find anywhere. I prefer to use a container in the Market District, because they don't respawn as frequently as other containers. Even so, don't leave anything more than a few days gametime. In your own house, you can store permanently: the containers there don't respawn.
