Aww no bank ;< Well I only have like 1,500 septims (I thought that was quite alot hehe) So no house or storage space for meFljotsdale wrote:No, no bank. However, if you buy a house and some furnishings you will have somewhere to store stuff. I would suggest you aim to buy the cheapest house you can, which is on the Waterfront of the Imperial city and only costs 2,000 septims. Go to The Office of Imperial Commerce in the Market District. You will need to get Vinincia's approval level to 50 and she will sell you the house and tell you where to buy furnishings. When you have enough cash to buy furniture, get the Storage first - you will then have 3 containers to store stuff in.
In the meantime, you can store stuff temporarily in containers you can find anywhere. I prefer to use a container in the Market District, because they don't respawn as frequently as other containers. Even so, don't leave anything more than a few days gametime. In your own house, you can store permanently: the containers there don't respawn.

It's easy enough to build up your cash. I have 2 char's under lvl 5 and both have the house on the Waterfront.Nathxoxo wrote:Aww no bank ;< Well I only have like 1,500 septims (I thought that was quite alot hehe) So no house or storage space for me![]()
When looting caves, ruins, forts, don't pick up stuff that is marked 'rusty' - the value is VERY low in comparison to weight. And, obviously, don't pick up stuff with no monetary value. Don't bother picking up clothes and shoes - you can get plenty when you want 'em just by checking out all the containers in the city. Always compare weight to value ratios when selecting what to carry out of dungeons.
But there is another way. You can take out everything if you want to. First off: get an Ease Burden spell. The cheapest is at Edgar's Discount Spells. Second, when you have killed everything in a location, place everything you are carrying in a container or body as close to the exit as you can. Go back and collect some more. Stash in same container. Do that until you have the lot. Then, using Ease Burden, pick up as much as you can carry from the container/body, and exit location. Go and sell stuff. Go back and pick up more, sell it, etc, etc, until you have it all.
You may not want to do this when you are further into the game and are rolling in cash, but early on, it pays!
Uh... don't hang around about picking up your loot. After a few game days the location will respawn and anything you have left behind will vanish.

If you installed them, you should have gotten messages about all of them. And I think they appear in your quest log once you get the message. I think Frostcraig Spire should also be on your map. Somewhere east of Bruma. That one doesn't require you to do anything except buy furnishings. And it's really cool too
And for starters you can buy the vault area for it, and then you can use the storage containers there to store more items then you could ever collect.
Also I think Deepscorn Hollow doesn't require anything except furnishings, so you can use that instead. But it's creepy. And furnishings for it are more expensive I think then for Frostcraig Spire.

No, just by bugs, so try not to leave stuff on the floor or shelves. You might not find it when you come back.Nathxoxo wrote:I managed to stumble across some locations of the letters in people homes that give you the furniture so I stole them muhaha, freebies for me!!![]()

I would advise you check the Wiki before storing anything in any house. The only reason I say that is because if there is some kind of a script written in that house, then anything you put in there might disappear once the script is activated.

Ay? Wot? :speech: I never heard of anything like that! So far as I am aware, you can only buy furnishings from the designated shop and dealer. You then get the sale documents in your inventory and the items appear as if by magic in your home. I don't believe any sales documents you took from other homes (and I've never seen such, myself) will give you access to free furnishings!Nathxoxo wrote:I managed to stumble across some locations of the letters in people homes that give you the furniture so I stole them muhaha, freebies for me!!![]()

No.Nathxoxo wrote:Question, can my home be robbed by an npc lol?![]()
Very few npc's have access to your home, and they don't steal from you. They only enter to deliver messages if you happen to be home at the time. If you are not home, they go looking for you.

But the Frostcrag Vault is certainly a huge storage area! Far more than I could ever use.
For myself, Nath, I sell most of my old stuff after my level has got me better stuff, so I don't keep much stored anyway, apart from Alchemy ingredients and equipment. I even sell most potions as most of 'em - especially early stuff - are useless anyway. I only keep such potions as:
Restore Health
Restore Magica
Cure Disease
Restore Attribute potions
Feather
And even then I leave most of 'em at home, just taking what I think I may need for any venture. Too darn heavy to cart a lot around with me! I also carry just a Mortar & Pestle to make potions on the fly, as I might need 'em, from stuff found on that trip. I make most potions at home with ingredients stored there, or at the Frostcrag Alchemy alter after I have bought it.

For the most part houses are safe, except Anvil.Fljotsdale wrote:I have never had anything disappear from any of the houses I have purchased, Ares.
Here found the Wiki page that has relevant information.

I just installed the GOTY Edition via steam so I guess it just installs the DLC's with it? I do have a quest that just randomly popped up called 'A Door in Niben Bay' if thats part of a DLC? I am unsure though..Ares2382 wrote:If you installed them, you should have gotten messages about all of them. And I think they appear in your quest log once you get the message. Question, once I have bought the letters for furniture ect do I keep them and can use them on my next house? Or do I just get rid of them?
Ye I just put my items and alchemy mats inside the storage units that are suppliedAres2382 wrote:No, just by bugs, so try not to leave stuff on the floor or shelves. You might not find it when you come back.

I should've added Damage Health to that list of potions in my inventory... too useful to leave at home! :laugh:Nathxoxo wrote:Thats just what I've been doing since I've got my new shiny homeIt makes making money easier since I can now carry ALOT more!!

Restore Attribute potions are very handy! Though, apart from a couple of Restore Strength, I leave 'em at home. Sometimes, your attributes get damaged in battle, or due to Disease, and all the restore health potions in the world won't restore damaged attributes.
The shrines to the various gods that you find here and there, and the alters in the Temples will restore health and attributes - but only if you have a good reputation; if your rep is bad, they will not heal you at all. So potions to restore attributes are a good thing to have! Not that you need many; just make 2 or 3 for each attribute and store until need. But keep Restore Strength with you!
Where did you find those furniture sale notes? I'm jealous!
Frostcrag Spire is yours if you have the DLC installed. Look in your Quest listing - you should have it recorded there. Then click on it to fast travel to it.

LOCATION TO THE FURNITURE NOTES!!
The storage-area upgrade can also be stolen by taking the "house storage area" note from on top of a crate in Marinus Catiotus' basement in the Elven Gardens District. Luronk gro-Glurzog in the Temple District also has the storage and painting updates in his basement. The House Kitchen Area upgrade can be found in Santus Varrid's house (also in the Temple District) upstairs, on a desk, along with the wall hangings and paintings upgrade.
Well I just bought the Game of the Year edition of oblivion on steam, I haven't installed any DLC's though?! Are you guys sure the DLC's come with the GOTY Edition? As I said I do have a quest that just randomly popped up called 'A Door in Niben Bay' is that anything to do with the DLC?
You can check your attributes page, and the attributes that show up in red are the ones that are damaged.Nathxoxo wrote:Ah ok I wont be selling my restore attribute potions from now onHow do you find out if your attributes get damaged in battle, and doesn't it go away by itself after awhile?

Also, I just checked Steam. Apparantly the GOTY addition only has the Shivering Isle and Knights of the Nine expansions, not the smaller DLCs. The smaller DLCs only come in GOTY Deluxe addition. So I guess you might not have them.
The door to Niben Bay is how you would get to the Shiver Isles.
Ah ok mate, are they free to download or do I have to buy them? and will they be compatible with steam?Ares2382 wrote:You can check your attributes page, and the attributes that show up in red are the ones that are damaged.
