I'm having gamebanshee.con difficulties

Post by Cavemonster »

I'm trying to view equipment in the neverwinter nights item list, but any item I click on results in a 404 message saying that the page could not be located, and the action is then hijacked by a takeoverAd:

For instance, none of these battleaxes are appearing for me when I click on the links.
Neverwinter Nights @ GameBanshee
Instead, it redirects me to this page:
http://www.gamebanshee.com/takeoverAd.h ... illusk.jpg

Is there a setting I need to change?

Thanks in advance

The site works fine here, I was able to see any items I clicked.

You should run a virus scan in the computer you are using, could narrow whether the problem is in your end or not.

im virus free.

I did recently visit the adobe/macromedia site recently, and turned off all of my flash cookies via their online applet Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Privacy Settings panel
(a type of cookie that circumvents browser security settings)

...and since then, gamebanshee's items tables have stopped working properly.

Hmm - it also seems to work for me as well.

What if you try to click a link like this:
Screenshots @ GameBanshee (one of the axe links).
Does it also bring up errors/404 for you?

What you explain having done should not be able to influence on the behaviour of the links, like you mention.
Does this happen in other browsers as well?

Also - I'm moving this to the Announcement & Feedback forum, because it deals with the site.

The ling results in the same 404 error.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled flash player, but I'm still getting errors on item links:

404: Not Found
Sorry, but the content you requested could not be found
This is puzzling.

What if you try another browser? For example if you're using FireFox - try Chrome or IE or vice versa.

Flash settings shouldn't be able to influence links like that. If I were to venture a guess, it sounds more like a plugin/strange setting which does something to the links

Here is something what might help:
My system identifies the gamebanshee server IP as:
Bogon 198.104.159.149:80 TCP protocol

Many ISPs and end-user firewalls filter and block Bogons(router ACLs,BGP blackholing or just simple IP blocklists).I dont know why is it a Bogon(probably just a recently or not long ago allocated internet adress by IANA).Try to update everything what can block IPs or allow it manually.

Probably not this is your problem because you can still see the site(if it would be blocked you shouldnt).

Are you talking about Adware.Tracking Cookies?I get those too(doubleclick,ad.adverticum etc.).

You can remove them with the free SUPERAntiSpyware and just dont allow your browser to accept cookies("Tools" drop-down menu, privacy settings) that should be enough to block them.

Yea.............. you can't actually disable that stuff. What you can do is clear out the files every week or two. It sucks, but only takes a few seconds.

What I use for virus/etc. protection is Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version of mbam is all you need). MSE basically catches everything (seriously - it's as good as nod32 which is basically the best $$$ antivirus IMO), but it's good to run mbam every few weeks just in case.
