Perhaps, but if they reduced the number of possible characters, and somewhat dumbed down the classes (this is no criticism, just facts) the execution might not be as good as we hoped.
ME2 was released after DA, and balance there wasn't top notch either
Edit : Aren't they planning on allowing levels in differend arch-types? As in : Mage 5 / Warrior 3? That would be your melee mage right there.

The way that Hawke's brother was swinging, I'd say no. However, I'm playing a mage, so take it with a (rather large) grain of salt. Mage Staves are no longer point and shoot, however.
Is anything like an Arcane Warrior possible? I saw that some mage skills can be sustained, but haven't seen anything to indicate a strong melee presence.
Also, how many specializations can you have? Still two? One at seven and one at fourteen?
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
No Arcane Warrior type. That I can detect. Mages only use Staves.
Spec points are still only granted at 7 & 14. Force Mage, Blood Mage and Spirit Healer.
Spirit Healer will forbid any offensive spellcasting, but has enhanced abilities to compensate. (not tried the others).
Greatest Reference to Origins that I have come across: "The only Warden of Ferelden I know of sits on the Throne." Side note: Human Noble Female from Origins fell in love with Alistair and eventually Married him. THru Mods, there is also a Princess
ALso came across a reference to the Warden Bloodmage from Warden's Keep DLC.
The game seems to be a lot more centered around party combat. How do you think solo runs would look like?
Am I correct in comparing DAII to MEII in saying that it has less abilities, but these abilities are more developed than before?
Also, what are your thoughts in regards to Stworca's thread? Do you share the same experience as he did?
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”
I've found a few Origins references so far, especially relating to the Hero Of Fereldan specifically, but I shan't go into too much detail as I don't want to give spoilers
there was a funny comment in one of the innkeerpers rumours too. something about the pigeon population of Fereldan being in decline and what kind of sick person would kill innocent pigeons? oh I wonder who...
I strongly suspect importing a Dalish Warden will be reflecting in a lot of dialogue with the Dalish clan at Sundermount too, since it's the same clan the Warden came from. there's also references to Tamlen, especially from Merill
I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me
Hmmm I wonder whom would do such a mean thing like that? (Killing innocent pigeons) *Shakes head knowingly* Which Innkeeper?
I've been looking for backpacks, myself. Found three, each in different sections of the city. 2 more. Only allowed 100 items. A let-down from Origins, which had 125.
in the Hanged Man, it's one of several rumours he tells you, although it'll probably only turn up if you have "met Shale" tag in your imported save
I've also met a few more Origins cameos who thankfully have their original voice actors, shan't say more though
